Great pack. Very adjustable to your torso size. Was worried about construction since I normally backpack with about 80lbs over rough terrain and it tends to destroy badly constructed backpacks. Everything great so far. Feels great.

This backpack is awesome, have used it only a few times, but it feels great
does not have a separate sleeping bag compartment, that takes a little getting used to. Very sturdy and if packed right, you can carry fairly heavy loads comfortably

quality and craftmanship are outstanding

Had this pack for few weeks and it rocks! I've tried TNF and Gregory and the Dana is by far the superior pack. The stitching is top notch. But I bought it for the suspension. I just loaded it up with 40 lbs of encyclopedia books and went up and down the stairs - pack was very solid. I also put our 2 1/2 year old daughter in the pack and walked around our family room. She had a ball and the pack was very comfortable.

Anyways, this is actually my first pack after weeks of researching the net and talking to experts. The concensus was that Dana was "it". Look at www.killerdeals.com and you can get a great deal. I bought mine for $199.

Customer Service

Called to get sizing info. They were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. First rate.

I like it. 60# was more bearable than assumed, I like the panel loading option when traveling, although the zips add weight. I am 6'3, and use a Medium pack with large pads & hipbelt. The Dana sizing made this thing work for me. It was 30% off (I was looking for a Terraplane), and it took 1.5 hours to get the right size and fit. The guys in the shop couldn't believe I took an M, instead of L or XL, but they finally got me fitted. Don't buy mail order until you know what you need, as the in-store fitting service is critical to comfort, and worth more than you might save with some killer deal. My Wife was all set to buy a Dana, but none came close to fitting her. The Arcteryx Bora 65 fits her like a glove w/o tweaking. I digress.

This pack is incredible. Very comfy with heavy loads over rough terrain, it keeps it all in check. Sure its expensive, but the craftsmanship and made in the USA makes it worth it, it will defnitely last me a looong time. Quite an impressive pack.

I,ve had this pack for 5 year and had 60 to 70 lb loads in it. Its amazing how comfortable it is. I've previously owned North Face and Gregory packs and they don't have the long term comfort of the Dana. Then again, they don't cost what the Dana costs.

Customer Service

I,ve called regarding loading and other products. They were prompt and courteous in their reply

An excellent, unbeatable pack. You could buy a larger pack from Dana, but do you really need the space? My wonderful ladyfriend has a Terraplane SMALL and my Stillwater LARGE is quite a bit larger. My pack is large enough precisely because ALL the space is usable: I feel confident loading up more weight in a Dana, knowing that it won't collapse like a Lowe. Also, BUY AMERICAN. Let me repeat: BUY AMERICAN! Unless you work for Osprey, don't buy any pack except a Dana. The Still water has some nice features (dual side zips, namely) and could probably withstand an attack by an errant US ""smat bomb."" Do the trite thing: buy a Dana, grab your bourgeois friends, and go out into the woods. Look for a sale. I got my 1998 in January 99 for 70% off. I'm still smiling.
