Good things about this pack: Very light. I weighed it at 3 lbs 4 oz with all the pockets/frame attached. It's about 4000 cu. in. Almost everything is removable. It can be stripped down to a 1 lb sack if you want. White material makes it easy to see contents inside. Side pockets are handy, and hold a surprising amount of stuff. Gear loops on hip belt are useful. Suspension is comfortable up to 40 lbs (most I have carried in it). Bad things about this pack: It's designed as a mtneering pack, but doesn't really come with any way to attach the shaft/spike of the ice axe/tools to the pack (It does have two loops at bottom to hold bottom of axes). You could make your own fairly easily though. Since all the pockets are modular, it should be available with removable tool tubes or something. It has no side compression straps which makes it a poor choice for carrying pickets/wands etc. I was able to stuff a single picket between the side pocket and pack body, but only when the compartments were empty. It does have places to add your own straps on the side, but the mounting spots are too narrow. The White fabric stains easily. Extra gear loops high on back of bag seem useless to me. Are you supposed to hang your rack from these? pocket attachment plastic straps are easily broken if you do not read the instructions first (My fault). Also, this pack is very expensive, but I guess that is because of the fancy fabric. A far more economic choice is there flight series pack which is the same design with regular fabric. I think it only weighs 1/2 to 1 lb heavier and costs 1/4 of the price.

Customer Service

Kelty is great about fixing or replacing packs. They sent me some extra plastic tabs for attaching pockets for free, even though I broke them. They also fixed a bad zipper very quickly.

Similar Products Used:

TNF Slipstream. Slightly heavier and smaller but still my choice for ice climbing/mountaineering since it has tools tubes, side compression straps and an emergency bivy sleeve.
