I have had nothing but good luck with this pack. It is extremely comfortable, it is easey to get at any of my stuff from the various zippered openings, and you can't beat the hydro system/camel back option. It also can be altered to different sizes prety easily. I have also been able to strap gear on the outside without any difficulty. One little tab off a zipper has come off, and it is the type that cannot be easily fixed, but other than that it has proven quite duarable. I highly recommend it. It would be good for the weekend backpacker, to the mountain climber/peak seeker.

I have used the Big Kahuna Pack (the design name that turned into it's nickname is the only thing i can think of right now). It definately did the job during 2 months of backpacking, but some straps broke and it gave me blisters on my collar bones (ick!). It did the job, but I wish I had had the LoweAlpine pack during that trip.

It's a tough bag. I have had mine for five years and have never had any problems. My only issue is that the shoulder straps can get to be uncomfortable after many miles with a lot of weight. However, some improvements to this pack have probably been made since I purchased mine. Bottom line thought ... it is a reliable bag.

Bomb proof, as always Lowe is more in the minimalist group in that they don't have all the bells and whistles but if you want to pack and go and are'nt part of the me too crowd you can't beat the value versus performance. Stable, light and easy to adjust.

I really love this pack. I'm a Boy Scout and an avid backpacker who was looking for an interal pack that had the features, capacity, and comfort that I wanted. I originally purchased an EMS 5000 ST, but it turned out not to fit me correctly. So I exchanged it fot this pack which fit me perfectly (5'4"" short torso, real thin). It's very comfartable for the long haul, and holds enough gear to last a week+. It's extremely adjustable and tough. It handled a 60+ mile canoe trip with ease. I also like the large sleeping bag compartment that allows you to put your sleeping bag and some small items. One thing that was really nice, was the included Platypus Hydration System (even though mine broke). The only thing I don't like about it is the lack of organizational pockets. Besides that, its a great value for the money, and most importantly a great pack.

this is a great pack for women because it is thinner, giving the hiker more balance and added cushion in the small of the back. the draw back of this narrow feature is the pack comes up high behind your head so if its packed to the brim, its a little hard to look up the steep trail ahead! my pack is a few years old and so improvments may have been made. totally durable and easy to adjust for optimal weight distribution on shoulders and hips.

I have only used the pack once on a backpack trip this summer in the Wind River Range. The pack took a little getting used to with Lowe's adjustment system, but once it was dailed in, it performed quite well. Overall, the pack is a great deal for it's price. Extremely durable pack.
