Used this pack on a through hike of the AT. I had 2 straps rip out, I had one repaired and Osprey replaced the harness. The delrin rod squeaks where it rubs on the pack. I used graphite power keep it from driving me nut. I now hike ultra-light and do not need a pack this size.

I have owned this pack for four years now. Ihave had many long hauls on it and like it very much. My only complaints are not very many pockets to hold small gear. Water bottle holder impossible to reach with bag on and do not like the internal water reservoir and where it is placed. The shoulder straps a little to narrow. The vector system is handy but do not like it feel that it adds weight. However I do like the waterproofness of the bag its excellent with out a rain cover. It does a good job of hauling very big loads quite nicely. The best part is all the different sizes you can get the frame and hipbelt in. My wife owns the Amelia which is the womens version and loves it. Look forward to many more years of Trekking.

I bought an Osprey Silhouette for my son two years ago as a high school graduation gift. He liked it so much I caved in and bought one for myself to replace an ancient Jansport I had been using. I took it on a four day trip into the Tetons and also on a trip into the Pioneer Mountains. It carries GREAT! It fits me nicely, and was as easy to carry as could be expected. When I bought the pack I thought the removeable fanny pack was just a gimmick, but it turned out to be quite useful for day trips out from base camp. I might add that on the same trip we had a North Face pack that failed. A seam ripped out and a strap tore out. I wouldn't hesitate to recomment the Osprey Silhouette and in fact I bought an Osprey Amelia for my wife in August.

I have owned my pack for about 5 years now and I have never had a problem with it. It is by far the best pack I have ever owned I only have two complaints about it. One, is that when you are carrying a big load the pack squeaks alot. Secondly, since it is only a top load pack it sometimes is a hassle to get gear out when you need it. Other than that it is a great pack and I would recomend it to anyone

First of all - I need to point out that my Osprey Silhouette is about 11 years old. It has been a great pack. Fits beautifully - carries well even when skiing. Handles big loads and strips down easily when you need less.
I have noticed the proliferation of "doodads" on the newer versions and I question their value. But Osprey makes a great pack - the hip and harness system is outstanding and the craftmanship (American made) is terrific.

Customer Service

Had one occasion to use service and it was outstanding.

Great pack. Bombproof (a term I rarely use)design. Very adjustable. Very comfortable. This pack is very well thought out and obviously designed by people who use them. Once it is properly adjusted to your torso, it is like part of your body. The only weird thing was the squeaky Delrin Hoop, but that eventually goes away.
