Well, what can I say, you get what you pay for. It comes with a hefty price tag, but it's worth it. Very comfertable and it never makes my back hurt. I use it for everything from hiking to carrying books for school. A very worthwhile purchase!

I've had this pack for about 3 years and have had numerous trips with it. I like it in general but it is not anything special. It works good and it is fairly adjustable and holds a good load, however the quality is a little lacking for TNF standards. Some of the sewing has come apart on some of the more abused areas. I got mine as a gift so I can't complain about price but there are definately better deals out there.

I think this is a great pack but sometimes I find that I wish it would unzip all the way down like the Mountiansmith packs so that it's easier to get to your stuff. Although it does have a zipper to get your sleeping bag out it still can be difficult.

I have had this pack for about 2 years and I cannot complain. It has been to the top of Mt Rainier, Mt. Baker, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Olympus on numerous trips. It has withstood the abuse of airlines, and snow storms. Even with 50+ pounds of gear it is the most comfy pack I have found. The only bad thing I have to say about this pack, and really any pack is the lack of gear loops on the hipbelt to rack climbing gear.

Only had the pack for a month and hated it. Over rated as far as its cubic inch capacity. Didn't fit right. TNF should stick to sleeping bags and clothes. No complaints in those catagories!

I found the straps to be a little uncomfortable if you're carying a lot of stuff. However, if you're not this bag will suit all of your needs as a weekend pack.

When I got this pack at a discount, I thought I had gotten a great deal on a great pack. WRONG. This pack has a poor hipbelt design and fit horribly. I have taken it to the top of Rainier a few times and Pico de Orizaba in Mexico. On my first long trip (Prussik Peak, Alpine lakes wilderness), I noticed that it would slide down my hips, no matter how tight I cinched it. Top load shifted all over the place. It's also an extremely heavy pack -- not to be used for "fast and light" alpine ascents. On the plus side, it seems to be very well constructed.

Customer Service

I was extremely disappointed with North Face service. I had heard so much about TNF's customer service. Not so in my case. Initially, they worked hard to try to refit it and make adjustments, switching out the hipbelt on one occasion. Then, after wearing for over a year, and bringing it back the TNF for the 3rd time, they said "oh, you probably should have gotten a Medium (it was a Large)." They also refused to take it back.

I have had this pack for five years now and drug it up Mt. Rainier, El Pico De Orizaba, and across the High Sierra Trail. I have been mostly satisfied with this pack. I am 6'2" and weigh 185 lbs. This pack fits my 19.5" torso very well. It could use a better Lumbar pad and a more contoured hip belt, but that is it. It is a well designed packbag and i have no felt need to replace it. If it fits, buy it.
