Bought this pack to handle 2nd trip into Yosemite Wilderness in 1999. Covered 60.7 miles in 8 days, with 28,362 ft of vertical change. Was 45 and out of condition. Averaged 65-70 lbs (55+food+water) - too much for me! Old Jansport Nepali would have shredded hips - Vortex made trip survivable! Besides cutting packweight, have since been learning how to "dial in" the straps better - makes load feel 10-15 lbs lighter than actual. An absolute delight with improved conditioning & more intelligent weight control (48-52 lbs max for me). Wife (NO prior backpacking) has tested 2800 & 4500 and loves fit, will probably buy STX for size.ÿ

Customer Service

Exceptional! Being able to drop in at the Company Store has spoiled me. They''ve generously accomodated my "customization" requests. Any "problem" I''ve had, they''ve had a solution for. They''ve eve

This thing breaths heavy duty. Kevlar stitching, polycarbonate frame, ridgid yet comfy hipbelt. The build quality i excellent and so is balance when climbing. The ulitmate expidition pack. Did I mention that it downsizes well as well... The lid is waistpack convertible. I ordered mine all black - looks very anonymous to the untrained eye - this is good when travelling in areas with higher crime rate.

Downside?
Not lightweight... Rather heavy.
Not available in Europe - had to custom order mine from Vortax ($200 customs...)

Great for me, my girlfriend and her son's stuff. They like "extras" that I end up carrying. No problem with heavy load due to suspension and distribution. Bought her a 3500 to help even the load. Great organizational features and design. Will wait and watch for new products from this great company. Won't need a new pack (probably ever), but will get for friends and family. Incredible.

Very rigid, comortable. Straps are very comfortable and won't fail. Price is right and there's enough room to bring many things on it. Good buy overall.

This is by far the best pack I've ever owned. It is very stable, even under an unexpected 80 lb load. The barrel is never ending. And it is extremely comfortable.

Customer Service

The customer service is amazing. Chances are good that you'll talk to the owner if you call. They shipped me a new stay the day after an airline snapped my pack in half
