Strength:

The Vibram sole shines on downhill switchbacks being the most aggressive downhill tread I have ever used.

Strength:

The boots are alright for shorter trips ,and I do not recommend them for any long journeys on uneven terrain. I have experienced pain from these boots with the lack of padding and feel they are not cut high enough for a midweight boot. See: https://twitter.com/photoboothofatx

Bought my boots on clearance when Galyan's was closing for $29.99. Had no clue that 10 years later, they'd still be outstanding boots. I recently wore them to Philmont Scout Ranch and did an 85 mile trek with my son and they performed perfectly. Great for shorter trips and around town use too. Just now having to have them re-soled and feel certain that they'll be good for many more years.

Stands the test of time! Have owned these boots for quite sometime and just recently wore them hiking in the German Alps. Great support, traction for another Cldye's type hiker.

I purchased these boots to aid me in hiking on the Appalachian Trail. I bought them about 6 years ago and the boots do not stand out in my memories of the trip. I do remember that there was a terrible drought in Georgia at the time, and that we were down to less than 20oz of water each and the map we had kept telling us that a freshwater spring was just around the bend. Point being they worked well, and I had no problems with them. Prior to the trip I used the boots for several more strenuous day hikes and some very mild flat land hikes. The boots serve all purposes very well. I am a big (300+lbs) turtle hiker, slow and steady wins the race, they are a bit on the heavy (rough trail)side of things and I would not recommend them to anyone who is looking for something go-lite. If you need something that is rough and tough and you can handle the weight I would highly recommend these boots.

Since my last review, I put at least another hundred trail miles on my Cerroe Torre GTX's. They are extremely durable but I have been having heel-bruising problems with them. I have swapped insoles at least 3 different times. Also I find that my feet sweat really badly in them. Don't know whats up with that but, I've never had that in any other shoe.

I like a boot that has stiff soles and kind of flexible, soft uppers and these boots are perfect. They have great ankle support and the soles are long wearing and just right when it comes to stiffness. I use these boots for more than just backpacking or hiking. They are comfortable enough to wear them while walking the streets of San Francisco. I find that they are my "go to boots" when I know I am going to be on my feet for a while. They fit me as if they were custom made. I got them at a great price and I think they were a great deal at that price.
