I have had these boots for two years and they have had plenty of miles added to them. These boots have great leather and a good sole. However they hardly any ankle support and are a pain to break in. I used to rave about Danner but after buying some new boots I found I should have switched brands years ago.

I've used the Danner ML II on numerous backpacking trips last summer, ranging from sunny afternoon outings to a soggy week spent hoofin it in the olymipic mountains. The one thing that stayed dry was my feet. The boots provide great support while carrying monster loads, and have soles with enough traction to grab a greased pig. An excellent value.

After reading numerous positive reviews of Danner boots in general, and as I live near the Danner factory (Portland, OR), this boot was an obvious choice. For the most part I've been quite happy with it. Break-in time was minimal and they've held up well. However, the comfort and fit were much closer to Danner's reputation after adding neoprene liner and Superfeet insole. Prior to that, the padding was insufficient and heel slippage was a problem. The only other potential concern is the lack of ankle support. In general, though, I recommend the boot. And if you happen to live in the Oregon area, the Danner factory store has fantastic deals on boots with VERY minor cosmetic blemishes.

I wear a 12EEE and these boots are the best my feet have ever found. I'll take the extra weight any day for the stability which comes from the big stitched down soles, especially when loaded for the longer hauls. I’ll buy them again when these ever wear out (4th year).

Forget the rest. This is the boot. Old school flavor and a bomber fit. Comfortable, tough, and all the yuppies still wear Vasque.

I bought a pair of the original Mt. Lights and have been nothing but impressed. With a little bit of care these boots will last you a long, long, time. I have wore out the soles twice before the leather finally starting cracking. To give you a better idea. I wore these hiking and backpacking, as a winter unit and to play paintball in for about 9 years. When they finally couldn't take no more it was like losing a best friend. I haven't bought a replacement pair, cause I am having trouble finding a dealer.

Danner boots are by far the best in terms of durability and quality. My first pair were issued by the military six years ago and have been with me on deployments around the world, keeping my feet dry and warm without fail. Bought my Mt Light II's a month ago and have had no problems...don't anticipate any either. Danner makes good stuff...I highly recommend these!

I bought my Danner Mtn Light II's last year. First, get someone who knows Danner hiking boots. I got mine from a dealer who sells work and hunting boots by Danner and got a crappy fit. After I went back and solved the problem, I have had nothing but positive experiences since. These things hold up like a champ under some pretty varied and rough conditions. I have used them on 1-3 day trips on the A.T. in GA and NC, the Foothills Trail of SC, the Mtns.-to-Sea Trail, Linville Gorge in Pisgah NF and the John Bartram Trail under loads from 25-60 lbs. I am 5'10" and 185 and these support my feet fine. Ankle support is nominal, but I found this keeps me from stepping where I shouln't be stepping to begin with! I reccomend getting a gel liner for the footbed (they come with no padding or liner) for comfort's sake. If you have a narrow heel you can plan on using moleskin or duct tape to avoid slippage-blisters, but they are still not as bad a most vasque or hi-tec boots in this regard. For me, they work best with a pair of Thor-Lo liners and Smart-wool treking weight socks. Another good point is that most cobblers or shoe repairmen will work on these particular boots so you do not have to wait for long to get back on the trail if you have a boot emergency!Take care of them with a wipe down and lite coat of Danner Boot Conditioner and these boots will take care of you.

These are some very comfortable hiking shoes, especially for me. I have trouble finding one that fits my wide feet like these do. They are also fairly lightweight, which is perfect for those who prefer lightweight gear.
