I recieved these as a gift 7 years ago and I still love them. I have a long but narrow foot, and these are the ONLY hiking boots I found in a mens narrow sizing, so they actually fit properly. I have re-waterprofed them and replaced the insoles to extend their life, but I dont look forward to replacing them. When I do i probably will get another pair. After 7 years of intermitent use they are still in wonderful condition and perform excelently.

Worth every damn penny. Long lasting, both fabric, soles, and Gore-Tex. Used for camping and such, but mostly these boots saws college years of snow, mud, and rain in the NY snowbelt. Probably tons of beer spilt on them too. Dog ate the tongue and I plan on getting another pair of bean Gore-tex boots.

I have had the boots for a few years and they have proven quite durable, comfortable, and waterproof. In fact, they would be the favorite pair of hiking boots I have ever owned except for one thing - they are horrible in wet or slippery conditions. In those conditions - think fall with lots of wet leaves on trail - I fall at least once per hike and come near to having my feet go right out from under at least 3 or 4 times. Due to this problem, I am considering new boots. However, its hard to otherwise beat the good qualities of this boot for the price.

I bought my Knife Edge boots right after they redesigned them, making them all-leather with a nice rubber toe rand and some sticky vibram soles. The day after I got them in the mail I went on a 16 mile hike with no discomfort. I wore them extensively to work (Outdoor REC. jobs) and play for 3 years, including a grueling trip into the Winds with a 75 pound pack, and in the Sierra. With such loads, the stitching finally gave out, but the boots remained comfy and waterproof. I would consider this boot for light backpacking and day hiking, and would only complain that the tongue gussets don't go all the way to the top of the boot for deeper stream crossings!

Customer Service

I just sent mine back to LLBean for a repair/replacement. Lifetime satistfaction guarantee makes LLbean the only choice for boots!!!

These boots are very comfortable and are very waterproof. I havent taken them on a big trip yet, but i think that they will be a good pair of boots to have. Also, the traction is superb.

A great fitting boot for a wide, high volume foot. Very comfortable after a very short break-in period. Materials and construction seem to be up to Bean's usual standards. Unlike some other reviewers, I found the boot to have very good traction. Perhaps at some point they improved the sole. Sprayed them with Camp Dry and was amazed how well it kept the outer boot dry.

Customer Service

LL Bean wrote the book on customer service. Lately they have had to hire a lot of new people so you don't always get the most knowledgeable person. You have to be patient.

Nice and wide. Comfortable on long hikes. But they don't handle slippery conditions very well. Wore them on a trip last fall trekking in Nepal and the heel broke apart. If I didn't have superglue, I would have been out of luck. I have gone back to wearing my all-leather Raichle's from REI.

My Knife Edge hikers were put to the test on a two-day 22 mile "hike" in New Hampshire's Presidential Range. These boots offered me enough ankle support while carrying a 45-50lb. load, with nary a blister to be had (praise smartwool!). However, I needed to go to a heavier sock to prevent my fairly narrow heel from slipping around to much. These boots had plenty of toe room as well, which helped out on a trying descend of Mt. Washington on the Nelson Crag Trail. On the downside, it took a couple of dayhikes in "Rocksylvania" to break them in to fit my oddly constructed feet, and one of my ankles was sore for a few days from mashing up against the rear ankle padding. In closing, for the price I am completely satisfied with these boots....but some fine tuning with socks/insoles may be needed.

These are the first comfortable boots i've had on my wide feet. They are waterproof and have a nice roll to them. They cost less than half my Vasque Thru-hikers and are hands down better boots.

Customer Service

I have tons of Bean outdoor clothing and they hold up very well.

I've tried so many boots to fit my small wide foot, just trying to find that one boot. These Felt great size wise but the back of collar above my ankle created bruises.

Customer Service

Got them from L.L.Bean, their great no hassels when I returned them.
