A comfortable, reasonably priced boot, with a long break in period. The boots lining started cracking and shrinking after only four months of casual wear.

This is my favorite boot of all time. It does have a long break-in period as most Norwegian welts do. But after the break-in the will last a very long time. Be sure to treat them or they will crack. Lots of support. Most inexpensive welt boot on the market. Unfortunately, Bean has decided to discontinue them along with their Limer boots. Bad move. The only draw-back to these was the hard sole. A good insole solves the problem, though.

Information: not a reviee of North Col:

A previous reviwer stated that LL bEan no longer carries the North Col Hikers or the Limmers. Not true (entierly). I just spoke to LL bean today. They still carry the North Col, they just do not advertise them heavily. She said they were going to stop offering them but they were too popular. Occasionaly they show up in a catalog, but I could not find them on the web site. As for Limmers: I just ordered 2 pair from Bean. They no longer distribute these, but they have some left at the warehouse / retail store. Regular $270, I got them for $199. They are (supposedly- telephone order) the mid-weights (the same as the "Backpacker" stock model from Limmer??).
Hopefully my Limmers work out. But Bean DOES carry the North Col (made in Italy)

I cant rate them (so i'l put OK), cause I don't have'em.

Customer Service

Great reputation, but no personal experience.
