I bought these boots because they were cheaper than the Vasque Sundowner, but don't have gore-tex. They are an exact clone of the Vasque, and even say "Skywalker on the sole. I was sold a size too large by the salesman, but even so, I wouldn't buy these again. I hate the soles: I find the flex at the ball of the foot odd; it seems like it throws you back on your heels. Even after some long hikes they feel very awkward. Some people won't be bothered by this, especially since The Vasques are so popular, but I hated it. Also, I'd get gore-tex next time--these leaked like a sieve at the tongue, even after extensive waterproofing. I want my Danners back!

These boots replace a pair of Fabiano's I purchased in 1983. Since my feet are a B width anything wide results in the laces drawing the boot more than completely closed. These fit very well, have resulted in zero hot spots, and are light. They have the new manufacturer mentality soles - throw aways. Some claim to be able to replace them but I have heard the resoles do not last long. I picked these up at Appalachian Outfitters in Oakton VA for $99. They also have the Fabiano's though they were discontinued two years ago by the manufacturer - unfortunately they did not have my size.
