These were my first pair of real hiking boots four years ago. In those years, I don't think that the boot has changed much. They are plenty stiff and heavy for three to four day hikes, but no more. The only thing that I didn't like was that they made alot of noise in the tounge area. Other than that, they are great.

I find the boot to be very comfortable (they happen to fit me extrememly well) although they would need a bit more cushioning for epic hikes. This isn't an appalachian mt trail boot, but it is a terriffic value and a very versatile shoe. Good stuff.

I own lots of REI gear and these boots are nice. However don't try doing epic hikes in them or else you're asking for sore feet. I usually use them on day hikes and such because the soles just aren't stiff enough for me.

Very pleased. Boots took a mere 14 hours of normal wear to break in. Boot has nice arch support and a durable sole. The full-grain leather breathes nicely while still keeping my foot cozy dry. A bargain at $99.00! In addition, it is a nice looking boot.

These were the first pair of ""serious"" boots that I purchased and I wore them 'til the sole cracked because my feet felt at home. I usually just go on day hikes and this boot gives me enough support in the ankle without restricting me too much. Very little break-in time to boot! (pun intended)

I wish they still made the original Spirit, I've had mine for 8 yrs+ and they still are the best footware I've ever owned. Thousands of miles. city, and mountain. The leather is cracking, and the rand is coming loose. Still the most comfortable and useful shoes I've owned. I should have bought two pairs.

Customer Service

Never needed any.

I've had a pair of these boots for 6-8 years. Still going strong. Not the best cushioning underfoot, but fine for up to 10 miles/day with moderate (30-35lb) loads. You could probably add an aftermarket insole with better cush.

Customer Service

REI has INCREDIBLE customer service. 100% guarantee, no questions asked
