Scarpa Rio Mens Hiking Backpacking Boots

Scarpa Rio Mens Hiking Backpacking Boots

DESCRIPTION

The time tested choice for many serious hikers and backpackers, the Rio is built with a Norwegian welt construction, leather midsole and a steel shank-setting the standard in traditional mountain footwear. The Sherpa HS12 full grain leather upper, supple leather interior lining and Vibram Roccia-Block sole make this a boot you can depend on for years of loyal service. The Rio is flexible enough for comfortable hiking yet stiff enough for kicking steps on a snow covered peak. The Rio is offered in three widths-narrow, medium and wide.

Unbelieveable! It's as if these were made for my foot specifically. I have a shallow foot, and after fitting into numerous others, SCARPA is the best. No blisters. Break-in took a while, but well worth it. Lightweight yet extremely durable. HTO no longer carries SCarpa though...

Great, tough boot that I know I can resole 3 times before they get too shot. Fabiano and now Scarpa have always fit me and never have let me down whether doing the AT or getting to the crag.

Best damn boots ever made. Some people say they're hard to break-in,but I don't think so.Do yourself a favor and get a pair, you'll never regret it.

What a boot! I don't own this boot, but got a good look at them. Its by far the stiffest "backbacking" boot I've ever held, and even stiffer than some mountaineering boots. Its an old school boot with Norwegian welt and "rollerskate" leather uppers. It has stiff heel counters and apparently some toe counters as well. If you find one, try to flex it with your hands. You can't. It needs serious break-in. But given its design, it should last for many many years should you choose to buy and break them in. For the $224, you get a very seriuos boot. It can double as a light mountaineering boot but seems built for long lasting backpacking. Heck, if you're attacked by a mugger in the city, you can kick the crap out of him!
