Excellent boot, I reviewed about four different boots and finally chose the ascend bio flex. I wore the boot 2 days after receiving them and climbed a local mountain that is full of shale (I live on Kodiak Island, Alaska)actually the whole island is shale. the boot was very comfortable and has been built with rugged construction and on the four hour round trip i had no blisters or sore areas on my feet. When it comes time to buy another pair of boots when these ones wear out I will definitely buy another pair of ascend bio flex.c I have no complaints about these boots, and I highly recommend these.

An excellent heavy-duty hiking boot that is relatively light, very supportive, waterproof and well-made. In other words, what more could you possibly want?

I recently completed a two day hike in the Davos area of Switzerland and was very impressed with the way these boots worked. There's nothing like a 7 hour hike with several thousand meters elevation gain/loss to push footwear to the limit and I was very impressed with how well the Tecnica's kept my feet happy. I put a lot of this down to the bioflex construction which helps the boots flex evenly rather than just crumpling at one point.

The tongue's asymmetrical padding in particular works very well with the lacing system to make downhills actually enjoyable (we had a 4 km long rather steep section at one point). The Vibram sole grips very well and seems to wear well.

The construction, with the Gore-type liner, synthetic materials and leather patches is top rate and works very well. The boots lace up very close to the front of the boot so you get excellent fit when combined with the nifty eyelets.

I have not found any problems with these and almost feel like buying another pair just in case they get hard to find in the future...

Customer Service

Tecnica is hard to find in Canada, their distributor is really poor. Never had any problems but it could be an issue to get warranty service up here.
