This is my second pair of these boots. I found them on sale for about $90. I have been very happy with both pair though the leather upper does scuff up easily and I have worn out the heals of the soles on both pair. They are very comfortable from new and the seams on the inside are very smooth. Similar Products Used: None |

I purchased a pair of Vasque Sundowners in 1989 when I first arrived in Anchorage, AK. They are without a doubt the best boots I've ever owned. Besides trail hiking, they've built two houses and been from Alaska to Panama. They're worn now, but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another pair. Similar Products Used: None |

these shoes are THE BEST boots i have ever owned. i owned one pair, which i wore religiously day in and day out and then one day, i felt wet socks and called up vasque, they hooked me up with an authorized resoler, i had them resoled, looking like new and then when i went to california months ago, they lost my luggage, with my trusty sundowners in them. vaclempt, i bought another pair, but this time, it was not the one piece leather upper, but instead, the new style leather uppers. i wear them often now, and they are great- comfortable, stylish practical whether for walking the concrete jungle of nyc or hiking/mtn biking upstate. no problems. bought them for 144 in pittsburgh's outdoor exkursion. The Good: Great traction, toughness, comfort* over many days with packs, keeps your feet dry in streams. The Bad: If you're going to hike with these bad boys with full packs (including water), you'd better get your feet very acquainted with these boots before setting off on your adventure. There are graphic pictures of what was left of my heels because I didn't keep this pup very snug for one day. Youch! Overall: Great value. Tough boot. Would never own any other now. They've been through you know where and back with me. Similar Products Used: None |

All round excellent quality. My Sundowners are very comfortable, very light and waterproof. The soles grip well and have lasted quite well. I was on a dinosaur dig in the Montana badlands digging up Maiasaura peeblesorum bones on my hands and knees, scraping the toes of my boots into the dirt and rock all day. After a couple weeks, the boots looked pretty bleak. I cleaned them with saddle soap and polished them and (no lie) they looked close to new. Pretty good leather, I'd say. At first I wouldn't have bought them because they're too expensive. But REI had lost the laces and insoles on a pair and sold them dirt cheap. After wearing them for a few years, I would now say that they are worth their list price. Similar Products Used: Timberland |

This is boot is a true classic. It is ideal for long hikes, carrying moderate loads. Break in time is minimal, after about six hours of hike time, my boots fit as well as a pair of socks. When considering a good boot at a reasonable price, check this one out. Similar Products Used: None |

I am sad to see vasque sell walmart quality boots built in china instead of the Italy made boots that established their reputation. Cheep materials sewn using child labor, they had the best boot made but now passing off cheep crap. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THESE WAL-MART BOOTS. Good boot. Mine is the older style without the padded ring at the top; I don't really like that new style. I have a good fit in the narrow width, including my high heelbone. I don't really know why more boots are not available in narrow widths. Has been pretty durable, although the toes have been cut up on rocks a good bit. The sole has not performed particularly well on wet rock; if there is much of an angle, I need to proceed very carefully. Customer Service None needed. I cannot say enough about the Sundowners. I'll never buy another pair of boots. Unless I need REALLY heavyweight ones, and I've done 23 days in these at a stretch, so it's unlikely. I'm on my second pair. I still wear the first pair in the yard - though I wore down the soles. There is NO break in period with these boots - the soles feel great (though the new ones don't have the rocker heel that mine do). The laces are quick and the waterproofness is undoubtable. NOTE: this shoe is built in Italy and is designed for a slightly wider foot than usual. You MUST try these on and walk around for a few minutes and up the stairs. I have a wider foot, so they fit me like a glove. If you have a narrow foot, be careful. |
