I have owned this bag for the last 3 years and have used it on extended winter mountain trips in Montana. Yes, I currently live near Chicago but previously lived in Bozeman, MT for 14 years. Don't ask. This bag is extremely light fot its temp rating, compacts small, tuck stitching is great. Has served me well. Order way ahead of time. Excellent product, slow delivery.

Customer Service

Customer service is decent but at the time not great. They need some hard users with CS capabilities.

A slightly larger girthed version of the Ptarmigan, this bag is the most comfortable cold weather bag I have owned or slept in. The construction is first rate. I had mine overstuffed with 4 more oz of down. It may not sound like a lot but it can make a big difference. Mine has the dryloft shell and has performed wonderfully in nasty weather. In very cold temperatures (below 0 f) I have had problems with condensation on the inside of the outer shell that could pose problems on longer trips. A vapor barrier liner would certainly solve this problem but if you don't like vapor barriers you'll most likely want to get this bag or any other seriously cold weather bag with the more breathable shell. With ten inches of loft there just doesn't seem to be enough of a temperature / pressure differential to push the vapor through the shell. The hood is one of the best not only keeping your head warm but muffles out the sound of high winds and snoring tent mates. Feather Friends bags are a little pricey but the quality is evident everywhere you look. When you are days or weeks from the warm comforts of home and freezing in your bag, not many will find comfort knowing that they saved a couple hundred bucks on a lesser bag. If you really need this much warmth I highly recommend this bag.

I can't say enough about them. They will pretty much build a bag any way you want it. They will even recycle the down in your old bag for pillows and comforters.

I have had a Peregrine for about 5 years. It has a removable collar and a Goretex shell. I had them put a couple of ounces of overfill. For winter backpacking it is a dream. The weight/space/warmth value is superb. It is nice to have a bag with plenty of loft that fits in the bottom of my internal frame pack. I have camped in the high Uinta's at over 20 below and been toasty. I am not certain if the Goretex shell is a plus. The bag seems to hold the moisture. A half hour hanging in the sun in the am seems to solve the problem.

I've had this bag about 5 years...super warm, but...loop in middle of back sometimes irritates...not quite wide enough for middle aged girth...leaks a few feathers...but great for someone 30 years younger than me who wants a light, high quality, never get cold bag.
