This is an awesome sleeping bag; though I wouldn't want to pay $270 for it, I would if I had to. At 1lb 12oz, it's very light, and the 775 Down is extremely comfortable and lofts very well. I used it for around 1 1/2 months on a Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike (www.hikefordiabetes.org), and it served me very well.

I joined the bandwagon. I was looking to lighten my pack (I'm thrilled to say that my base weight is now under 16 lbs.) so I traded in my TNF Cat's Meow for the Arroyo. I spent a great deal of time reading reviews of bags and the Arroyo seems to be universally loved.

I purchase two bags to compare, the Arroyo and the Kelty Light Year 25. I couldn't pass up the price of the LY25 and wanted to see how it stood up to the more expensive Arroyo. The short of it is that it just wasn't as good a bag. (I posted a complete review on Backpacking.net).

Well, I've only had one 5 day trip with the bag, so it would be tough for me to say much about it yet. The Arroyo will be heading out to Rocky Mountain National Park and Arapaho NF with me for 12 days this September, which should give me a good indication of it's performance. I'll post a more extensive review then.

Great Bag. I used it in the Smokys and it performed better than expected. The temps. were around 32F and I had to unzip the bag. Usually, my face gets cold but the heat coming up around my neck kept my face warm. I think this bag will go down to the low 20's easy. With a silk liner it should go about 5F lower. I'm just under 6'3 and have the long version. Good room & no complaints.

I still can't beleive I got this bag for $99.00! It is so light and so warm. It stuffs into a Xsmall Granit Gear stuff sack, about the size of a loaf of bread but is oh so warm and soft.

I wouldn't have paid the retail price of $249.00. But if you can find one, snag it.

This bag almost gets my highest rating. It weighs nothing and packs very small. The only reservation is that you must keep it dry. I use this with an OR advanced bivy and a short self inflaing pad. Setting up and breaking camp can be very fast - leave all 3 pieces together (pad and bag in the bivy), deflate the pad, roll all three pieces up starting from the bottom, and slide that cylinder into your pack.

Very light but very warm for weight. I have used it comfortably into the 30's.I think it will serve me well down to 30. Compresses into smaller than two liter size. I can get the bag, some light fleece pants, a stocking cap and my North Face down jacket into the small stuff sack that comes with the bag.

I love this bag! I am a warm sleeper, so it serves me well for three seasons. Very compact and light, well made and at a little over 1 pound, a cjoy to carry.

I bought the Arroyo at REI's sale earlier this year (February?) and just tried it for the first time this past weekend. I slept on a snow bank on a 3/4 length Z-Rest with an 8x10 Siltarp over our heads, at approximately 4500' and the bag kept me warm. We think the temps dipped below freezing, so the little bag was pretty close to the mark on the temperature rating. I found the bag to be a little narrow and confining across my shoulder, but I can get used to that. All in all, considering rh extremely light weight of this bag, and the great REI closeout price of $99, it is one heck of a bag.

Still use my 1975 Eddie Bauer heavyweight down bag in the winter. Still going strong after 26 years, believe it or not.

Excellent bag, this tiny thing kept me warm on a class trip at 25* when other huge bulky "rated 0*" bags of classmates left them freezing through the night. If you can only afford one bag for spring through fall in the northern US this is your bag. REI was selling these at an ungodly low price this febuary(2001). If i had paid the full $250 i think i would still be happy. Weight low. Compression small. And very versitile in different temperatures.
