I love the Pinnacle. Light, roomy, warm, well made, nicely designed, durable. I have the gossamer shell that is reported to be 'Nikwax' . I used mine all last summer, tho mostly in the Rockies and at elevation. It vents nicely on warmish nights, but clamps down and is plenty warm for early and late season altitude nights. Temp rating is honest if a bit conservative. I wouldn't hesitate tent camping to zero in mine. I tend to sleep warm, so I especially appreciate the width in the shoulders...I can toss and turn and not wake up in a tangled know of baffles. Compresses very well. Price is a bit high, but look for them at a few discount places or make your local, overstocked store an offer...you might be surprised.

Customer Service

Marmot stands by their stuff. Their staff is dedicated to customer service, though their service systems are somewhat clumsy in response (as opposed to someone like LL Bean who will take back anything for any reason at any time with no questions asked). Every time I've called them their staff people know their gear and go out of their way to help. Great gear, sold by good folks.

I have this bag with dryloft. The bag is expensive, but the quality is great. It compacts very small and is suprisingly light. The dry loft is key if you are planning to spend the night in wet conditions. It works great. It is a little warmer than it is rated for. At 10 degrees, I still got hot and had to unzip the bag. Nothing to complain about if your camping in cold weather. I do not recommend this bag if you do a lot of camping in the southeast. It is a little to hot. Otherwise it is a great bag, but a little expensive.

This is an excellent bag. It is very roomy compared to other mummys, and the temp rating is accurate if you're an ""average"" sleeper. Not cheap, but packs smaller and is lighter than most other 15 degree bags out there. In my opinion, Marmot rates their bags temperatures accurately, unlike some other manufacturers. Zipper works well and does not jam easily.

This bag is very nice. It is a down bag in case you were not aware. It is supremely comfortable, lightweight, and has nice room inside. I am a tall person, but I am very comfortable in the bag. I have always held a fondness for down, and this bag confirms my beliefs. It is comfortable at a wide range of temperatures. I haven't tried it much below the recommended temperature, but I would not hesitate to do so. It is not the lightest bag in the world, but it packs pretty small and a good night's sleep is worth a little weight. Kind of pricey, but still a quality product.

Customer Service

Can't say I have had any experience with Marmot's customer service, and I don't expect to any time soon with this bag.

Marmot makes quality products with well thought out designs. The Pinnacle is no exception. It is comfortably roomy and has what is probably the best designed hood availible. The 15 to 20 degree rating seems about right. The overall quality of of construction is very good, but not to the standard of Western Mountaineering or Feathered Friends. I am very happy with the purchase. It is warm, well made, lightweight ( 2lb.8oz.)and stuffs small.

Customer Service

I've dealt with their customer service and was very pleased with their help.

I got a great deal on a left zippered Pinnacle late in 2000. After only one use in temperatures approaching single digits, I concluded the bag to be rated a lot cooler than what it actually is. I slept toasty warm (almost too warm). It performed well beyond expectations and immediately erased any concern I had about whether I should have purchased a winter bag. It is easily a 3+ season bag. It's also worth mentioning that I had second thoughts about the left zipper and decided to see about exchanging it for a right zippper. Although I had not purchased this 2000 year model bag from REI, they pleasantly surprised me by allowing me to exchange it through their retail store. What's more, I got the new 2001 version of the bag at no extra cost! To end this novella, I am very please with Marmot and REI. They will both continue to get my loyalty for future business! I really can't think of anything to say other than the bag was a LOT warmer than what I expected. But that's not a bad problem to have.

Bought this dryloft bag from the excellent Planet Outdoors before they merged with MVP. Great value for the money (Marmot is retailing size short for $379)! Had looked and looked for a good down bag that would fit my 5'4" frame and still give me a little room to move and to put things inside. This bag is it! I totally agree with other reviewer's comments about the Pinnacle's quality, and light weight, and compactibility, but have one more thing to add as a cold-sleeping female.

Two and a half weeks ago, I took this bag on a four day 50-mile trip through southern NJ and Pennsylvania, during which it snowed, and hailed, and rained during the day. The first night, because we both hate condensation, my partner and I slept with the tent's mesh windows wide open. I had to zip up all the way against the draft, and snug the hood down, and even then, my face was freezing. But the rest of me was WARM in temps I later learned had single digit chill factors. Not bad for a 15F bag!

The remaining nights, we closed the windows, which made for snow INSIDE the tent, and dripping ceiling and walls once the sun came up. My partner's bag got soaked at the foot and sides every night, but my dryloft bag just shrugged it all off. I'm very impressed with both the quality and construction of this bag, as well as its conservative temperature rating.

The only two quibbles I have are that since the draft collar's edges attach with stiff velcro and are sewn square, the collar poked my chin and cheek uncomfortably if I turned the wrong way, but it seems Marmot has fixed this problem by redesigning the collar. Also, as someone has already mentioned, my dryloft IS rather loud and crinkly, which made for some grumbling from my partner, but I'm guessing that was because he was already upset from being wet and cold...

If you're a cold sleeper looking for a 3+1/2 season bag, or if you sleep warmer and want a winter bag, choose the Pinnacle Dryloft; you won't regret it!

Very, very warm. I slept in it at 10 degrees, and left the zipper halfway open. They say it is a 3-season bag, but definatly a 4 season bag. I have the 775 fill with the gossamer. Great bag.

This bag is the best bag that I have ever used. They claim that it is a three season bag, rated at +15 degrees, but I have used it on winter outings (the latest was over Christmas break where temperatures were nearing 0 degrees) and I was nice and toasty warm. When i have used it in late spring trips to Southern Utah I have had to sleep on top of the bag because it keeps heat so well. If you are doing the majority of your hiking in late May, June, July and August then this bag might be a bit to warm (of course this depends on where you use it in those months. I used mine in the High Uinta mountain range in August and it was perfect). My particular model is the 775 goose down fill.

Customer Service

No problems. They were quick, courteous and did excellent work.
