I bought two Polar Pods when REI mistakenly put them on sale for $39 (the next day they were corrected to $69) so I''ll never complain! These bags are comfortable for summer and 3-minus seasons, but it''s too skimpy for its 20F rating (it has 4" loft to 5" for the Cats Meow). I was cold on true 3 season Scout campouts (25F and 20F, light snow, etc.). My son is a warm sleeper and was fine at 25F, though, so go for it if you sleep warm too. If you backpack, note that the Polarguard HV and heavy shell fabric don''t compress as well as high end bags. For its price, though, this is a great basic bag.

Customer Service

None needed on these bags. REI has been super on other products.

Bought two last year at a price REI set by mistake, it was $69 the next day, so I got a steal. It''s a little skimpy for a 20F bag (only 4" loft compared to 5" for TNF Cat''s Meow). My son (warmish sleeper) was comfortable on a scout outing at 25F but I was quite cold at 25 and 20F. Since it uses Polarguard HV and heavy nylon shell fabric, it doesn''t compress as well as high-end bags if you are backpacking. It is a decent basic bag, though. I recommend it on sale at $69 or less, but I''d look for a deal on a Cat''s Meow before buying it at full price

None needed on these bags. REI has been wonderful on other matters.

This is my wife''''s bag but since I don''''t have a good bag myself yet I comandered this one for the summer. I did numerous backpacking trips in this puppy aand loved every minute of it. This is a nice warm bag that does it''''s job well. I only started to get cold when the temps neared freezing one night(it waaaas in november, you see). Well woth the 70 bucks, I would even be willing to pay full price for this guy, and that doesn''''t happen very often.

I have had used this bag approx. 10 times over the last 2 yrs. It is a great bag for the $. I have used this in single digit temps & was very toasty. It compresses well & always keeps it's loft. The only downsides are, it's not too roomy, you tend to slide around due to the slick inner lining, & the zipper is difficult to use due to the draft tube. Overall the bag is well worth the $.

I saw this on REI.com's "Great Buys" section. For a $100 bag at forty bucks, it's quite a steal. It's probably very competitive even at the normal pricepoint.

I've used the bag a few times in our somewhat mild Dallas winter. My basic comments are that it's just a darn good cool weather mummy. Nothing flashy or exotic, but nothing flawed either. The build quality is good and the Polarguard HV does the job, and stuffs relatively well (MUCH better than my old regular Polarguard bag). The value/performance quotient is what we're talking about here. REI even throws in a cotton storage bag along with the normal nylon stuffsack. Unfortunately, I can't speak to its temp. rating as the weather never got that cold.

The Polar Pod is a great bag for those not willing to spend over $100. The Hood is designed nicely. The legroom is surprising large. I've been in it in below freezing temperatures with just a T-shirt and shorts on and been plenty warm. It seems quite durable after 4 months of moderately heavy use in a variety of environments and weather conditions.

The Pod was a perfect purchase for my wife and I because it was on sale (bargain!) and made in the United States. We are disgusted by big name companies who appear all-American but then sell out by having manufacturing overseas. Think of all the resources wasted in shipping too. REI is quality stuff and they donate profits to environmental causes

Customer Service

REI is great about taking returned items and their 8-10% dividend refund is cool.

Though mainly a person who drives his 4x4 to a primitive campsite, I enjoy lightweight, USABLE, equipment. This bag has been an excellent choice. The zipper will catch the draft tbe if not real careful. Have only used it in the mid 30s range, but it is plenty warm. I have had no durability problems. It appears to be on par w/ my wife's more expensive North Face bag.

Only used it a couple of times. The brass eyelet for the hood drawstring starting tearing out of the bag. I returned it and bought the Sierra Designs Sundance.

Customer Service

REI has absolutely the best return policy and customer service.

While wating for my new bag to arrive in the mail I borrowed this bag from a friend last weekend. We hiked the Mt. Mitchell trail and camped in some very nasty winter weather. I brought along a fleece liner thinking it might dip down below 10. I think we bottomed out around 18 and I almost burned up in the bag. So it's performance is excellent and the liner helped keep out the drafts. My only complaint is the hood drawstring would not hold in place after tightening.
