i was always looking at these things, and finally bought one. man oh man, babies don't sleep this good. i usually get bruised up during the weekend trips and almost always get bruises or other injuries. then i have to sleep funny so that i don't roll over my bruised arm or something. this product easily let me get rested for the next day.

I have had great luck with this pad. I also own the standard Therm-A-Rest (72")and have come to appreciate that "less is more". I have not noticed any loss in comfort or insulating value.

Excellent for quick trips, thru hikes or as additional insulation for winter camping.

This is one of those products that I never realized I needed so much until I finally got one; I will never go back. The GuideLite has the perfect comfort to weight ratio. It is warm, comfortable, and rolls up small enough to cram into my bag where it is safe from possible tears while hiking. I highly recommend it, just don’t pay full price for it. Although it is worth every cent, there is no sense paying MSRP, plenty of online stores have it for less.

The first time I used this pad I woke up every morning at 3am to find it flat as a pancake. After a no questions asked exchange for a new one I am in love. I was a sucker and paid full price, but with no regrets. One piece of gear that has paid for itself. From trips to arid places splurge on the repair kit and stuff sack.

It may seem surprising that there are so little reviews for Thermarests, even though most backpackers I know have one and love them. So, in case you haven't heard, you will never be able to go back to a styrofoam pad after a Thermarest. They are super comfortable and very warm. I have the Guidelite full length. The only really complaint is that they are expensive, but if you shop around (especially on the internet), you can find one for a good deal, not whether I should get a Thermarest or something else. For me, the only issue is deciding what kind of Thermarest to get: should I get a thin, 3/4 length one and save weight, or should I get a wide and/or full length one which is a little heavier but more comfortable. I decided narrow or wide doesn't matter as much as 3/4 or full length, and I thought the Guidelite was just the right thickness and width for hardcore backcountry hiking as well as using it for a friend to crash on the floor of my apartment. I like the full length because I don't like my feet hanging off the end, especially when it's cold.

Purchased this product over a year ago, and has performed flawlessly. I would definately purchase again. (Although not for seventy bucks...there's good online deals, I got mine for $45).

Customer Service

I've heard Cascade Designs has great customer service, but I've never had to use them.

I have had the guidelite for a year now and I love it. The guidelite is the best sleeping pad I have ever used and I have tryed others. The thing I like best about the guidelite is the inner pad the way its cut in dimond shapes, this alowes for a softer more confortable sleep It also alowes it to be liter. When I bought the guidelite I expeced it to not sleep as well as my other pad because of its liteness boy was I wrong. It sleepes a lot better when I get to camp and set up my tent I will strech it out and let it expand for an hour or two then when I am ready to go to sleep I put two breths of air in it and its perfict. in wenter it insulates you from the ground and is a lot wormer. With my fome pads I always woke up sore from the ground but not with this pad, my body dont touch the ground so I get a More restfull nights sleep and lets face it being sore the next day from the ground makes for a misurable day, I like to enjoy my backpacking trips and being comfortable is a great start.

Great pad! I have the full length model. It's so comfortable it's close to sleeping in bed! Only problem I've found is the width, but of course it would add extra weight if you made it wider so...I think it's perfect the way it is!

Before I had this i used the horrible roll up hard foam pad, and then switched to a cushy fabric covered foam pad...now I'll never go back, it's well worth the price!

I have the 3/4 model and I love it. I tried an ultralite model that belonged to a friend and I appreciate the extra 1/2 inch of padding offered in the Guidelite. I always used closed cell pads before and as I've gotten older (it happens to all of us!) I was less and less comfortable sleeping. The Guidelite has revived my outdoor life. It is somewhat narrow at 20 inches but I sleep rather restful so it's not a problem. If you are more of a restless sleeper and still want the light weight go for the Camplite it is 25 inches wide. The slight increase in weight over closed cell pads is more than made up for in comfort. I was able to get mine for $41.00 as a cosmetic blem at Northern Mountain Supply on the net. They added about $5.00 shipping but Fed Ex'ed the thing and I had it in two days. The only mark on it is a slight dark stain near the label. I would recommend that you check out Northern Mountain if you're looking for a Therm-a-Rest, they have lots of models on "blem-sale" and they are great deals. Buy one and rest well.
