Therm-a-Rest LE Camp Rest Sleeping Pads

DESCRIPTION

Unmatched comfort has made the LE Camp Rest(R) self-inflating mattress from Cascade Designs a bestseller. Transversely-bored open-cell foam reduces bulk and weight, yet still offers luxurious comfort and insulation from the cold ground. Low-slip, 4-way stretch, SoftKnit polyester top keeps your sleeping bag in place, while the durable nylon oxford bottom resists dampness and dirt. High-flow inflation valve has free-spinning head for easy use even with mittens on. Includes stuff sack and repair kit.

Backpacker

So, why does a backpacker carry a pad that is at least a pound heavier than the alternatives? Two numbers in explanation: 250 and 44 (my weight and age). I need that padding! This pad is a great piece of equipment. Very comfortable, and the "sticky" surface keeps you from sliding off all night. As for durability, I've only had this one for a year, but my 4-year old Standard is still fully operational and currently gets considerable use by my teenager, so no worries. The pain of the high price is partially offset by its great utility and comfort. Still, $120?! Ouch!
