MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

DESCRIPTION

Whether it's white gas, kerosene, jet fuel or automobile gasoline, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ takes it all and burns it easily. The secret is in the large diameter fuel line that lets you burn poor-quality fuel with less maintenance or cleaning than other so-called multi-fuel stoves. Like the Whisperlite Shaker Jet Stove, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ features a Shaker Jet needle, which automatically pushes out any excess fuel debris with a simple flick of the wrist.

Great for international backcountry adventures, backpacking, mountaineering, kayaking and camping

Windscreen, heat reflector, fuel pump and reusable stuff sack included 14 oz. (400 g.)

I have put everything in this stove, from petrol to white gas to 87 octane unleaded and it has never let me down. I have even fired it up after not using it for almost a year and it worked like a charm. There is no real low setting unless you can manipulate the pump,(takes practice). A great stove for european travel, (why I bought it). Not for gourmet cooking but it will never let you down.

Some frustrated hikers in them woods... This stove is NOT for simple overnight hikers 1 or 2 times a year. It is for serious and prolonged use where field maintenance can save your butt. I've had mine for 10 years and dumped all kind of crappy fuel/kerosene/alcohol in it, and it keeps chugging away and boiling water in a flash. Don't talk to me about burning twigs at 14000 feet buddy! If you're going in the Rockies or South America, this is the most durable, efficient, multi-fuelable and compact stove available. PERIOD. And buy the field maintenance kit...

Had this stove for about a year now and used on numerous occasions on sections of the AT and in much of North Georgia''s wilderness. GREAT. the stove is light weight, very easy to use and clean and has not given me any problems. Reading previous reviews I see that some people may not be taking very good care of the stove and not using it properly. I give my stove a good look after each use just like I do with all of my equipment, and I have had no problems. Boil time is excellent, and the stove will simmer if pressure is not too great, I find it hard to believe that so many people did not find this... it only took me a few trips and a handful of stove uses to figure nthat out. Bottom line: Great, lightweight stove, that if used properly and taken care of will be the only stove you need to buy. If you do alot of 3-5 day trips like me, this stove is perfect.

Its hard for me to be objective about whats wrong with this stove but I consider it to be the worst I have ever owned. I think it just has never quite lived up to expectations. It cost about £60 or 85USD expensive enough for something so disapointing. Hate the plastic pump I broke it twice. Hard to prime, difficult to simmer. The potstand is poor, too big and quite slippery. You need to make a decent windshield. Otherwise it seems well enough made. It does have a tendency to splutter wildly while using paraffin (Kerosene), soots up like mad if you just use ordinary petrol (gasoline). Coleman fuel is much too expensive in the the UK but perhaps it works better. Easy to take apart in the field, good because you are going to do it regualrly. Perhaps if you pray a lot and sing hymns on the trail it will work well for you, but to be honest even my Dads old brass primus works more reliably and considering the fuel tank is part of it its only a few ounces heavier. I couldn''t reccomend this item, perhaps those who do, have been luckier or more skillful maybe they lived better lives and are kind to animals and small children but I''ve come to hate this stove, I wouldn''t even sell it to someone else.

I''''ve had nothing but good experiences with this stove. It''''s hot (nothin'''' like the smell of napalm in the mornin''''), dependable, and stable. As most of us are, I''''m on a budget, this fits it.Its versatility in fuel makes for cheap opperation, and means I don''''t have to hunt down Iso-Pro canisters (and later pack them out). I''''m not gonna lie to ya, whisperlight hates to simmer (w/o excessive coaxing). Personaly I don''''t mind. If your one who refuses to leave your gourmet 3-course meals behind, I suppose this stove isn''''t for you; at the same either is ruffing it I guess. For my humble meals, freeze dried food, it performs awesome boiling water in no time. **PROS** Hot flame (I''''m thinking Cherynobyl) Light weight(I''''ve had no problems with plastic pump) MSR fiberglass primer wick is much more dependable than Primus'''' pad Convenient fuel sources (white gas to whiskey) **CONS** MSR shortened the fuel line to cut weight, I''''m not a big fan of this. If the stove flares up, its difficult (but not impossible) to get to the valve. Ideal stove for boiling water fast

Customer Service

No need to use them

This baby is a blow torch! Great performance on last trip at 4,000 feet. I didn't time it but I believe it outperformed the specs on both boiling and fuel time. Used white gas only so I can't speak for other fuels but it primes easily and goes to blue flame immediately. Great piece of equipment.

I've used this stove for 7 years and it has done everything it promised to do. It'll boil water in no time. My only problem is that it is hard to get it to simmer and setting it up is a bit of a procedure. This has lead me to the conclusion that I should get a canister stove instead since they are easier to handle.

This stove is worth EVERY penny. Works well in windy crappy conditions. Very HOT. Very hot also no good for simmering, but who the heck needs to spend all night eating and cookin? Too many things to be doing than eating, but eating is important and this stove is the one. Light, don't get the stove that you have to carry gas bottles, rather your resuable bottle. Had this stove for 6 years and cleaned it once, .....I think.

Tried and still have the Rapid fire, but I hate extra stuff, and you need xtra bottles for this one. It's a great stove to bring for backup, with one bottle.

One of the most popular backpacking stoves made. The only drawback to it is that it is impossible to simmer anything on it, it is pretty much full on or off. Boils water very quickly, uses a minimum of fuel. McGyver has probably used one to cut thru steel, or for a hot air balloon. I bought a Dragonfly after using the Whisperlite for a year because of the flexibility that simmering gives you- you can eat many more things. If I had known this beforehand, I would have spent the extra $ and bought a Dragonfly first. Oh well...

Customer Service

No problems, but have only used it about 30 times. Havent had to clean it yet, have used Coleman fuel exclusively.

I got this on special with a 22 fl oz fuel bottle. Camped for a week cooked breakfast and dinner - no time for lunch! Every day and still had fuel left over. Used gasoline unleaded with great results. Stove assembly is stable even with a full 2 quart pot. Simmer is difficult but not impossible. Frying is great! Heheh Have to be cautious of flare-ups at start-up. Have never ""cleaned"" it - self cleaning ya know. Put it away for a year and dragged it out in Florida when a power outage threatened to ruin my dinner. Cranked it up with the year old gasoline and was cookin' along with NO problem! Excellent! Even supported the 7 inch cast iron skillet - that was a surprise.
