a day pack w/ tonz of room, only $50 and the weight is less that 11 oz. now stop again and tell me why you are even thinking twice about this?? these things are the best. good for around town, on the trail, or shove it on yer pack for a peak summit that only takes a day or if you need just enough space for a fast pack that extra space just means more weight. i have over 60 miles on mine this summer and it still looks brand new.

Two thumbs up! I also got this pack at REI''s online outlet store for $35 plus sales tax and shipping. I''ve been searching for a replacement for my aging 1 lb. 15 oz. Gregory Day-and-A-Half pack for years and I finally found it in the 10 1/2 ounce Golite Day pack. I wish I had had it on my last overnighter--< 20 lb. in my now obsolete Jansport Summit pack. I carried the same weight up a mountain today as a test, and the Golite performed flawlessly. This pack is perfect *for me*! 90% of my trips are 3-season < 3 day trips with < 25 lbs. In the main compartment, there''s plenty of room for a <3 lb. down bag, a small tent, extra clothes with room left over for food. Water and essentials fit easily in the back and side pockets.

The Golite Day is a very light (10 oz), durable and comfortable daypack for loads up to about 15 pounds – maybe 20 in a pinch. It's constructed of lightweight, super strong Spectra ripstop nylon and it's built to last. There's enough room to allow for a summer overnighter and perfect for any day trip. I purchased mine at 50% off retail - $35 at REI-Outlet.com. At first glance I thought I'd need a sternum strap and waist belt but once out on the trail I was amazed at how stable and comfortably it carried loads between 5 to 15 pounds. Now I don't miss them at all. The Day doesn’t have padding so I cut some ¼” high-density foam padding and placed it inside to keep my gear from pressing into my back. Initially I thought this was a poor design decision, but for a meager ¾ oz I now have a nice cushion I can pull out when it comes time to sit for a bit. I was also concerned about a lack of hydration sleeve, but have found that by placing my Camelbak 100oz bladder in-between the padding and the back of the pack and hanging it via the compression strap at the top, it works perfectly. And since it rolls up to about the size of a grapefruit (not bad for a 2000 cubic inch pack!) it will be traveling with me to the John Muir trail this fall to serve as my daytime explorer pack. Sure I could have purchased another daypack that had more features than my Goilite Day, but then it would have cost twice as much, weighed 3 times as much and done less. The simplicity of this pack rocks. Grab one at this awesome price before they're sold out.
