This is a classic design, often imitated recently, but still unbeaten. I bought mine nine years ago, and have used it in every sort of abysmal weather from heavy rain to heavy snow and all the various in-between states. The Bibler tents all use a single-wall, waterproof/breathable (""Todd-tex""), no-pole sleeve design that allows Bibler to build a Himalayas-ready 2-person design that weighs barely more than 4 lbs. This is a techy tent that is most at home in snow. In rain, the single-wall design leads to some condensation -- traditional designs seem to be drier. It might seem pretty small at first, but actually the interior space is very usable due to the high ceiling. This tent also performs well in the pack -- after carrying around a 4 lb tent for several years, carrying a 6 lb tent is unimaginable. Although I've never regretted the purchase, it's darn expensive, and maybe only worth the bucks for serious mountaineers and people who get a tech thrill. Also, some similar designs are now available for $350 or so. People who are not so serious about having the best can be perfectly happy with a tent 50% larger in the pack and 50% heavier at 30% the price, and they may even stay drier in the rain.
