This is an update to my previous review. To demonstrate how easy it is to set this tent up, my petite girlfriend was able to set this tent up by herself without difficulty and without previously setting this tent up. The only gripe we have with this tent is that the walls of the tent are not very taut even while the floor doesn't have any wrinkles and all points are staked and guy'ed out. Due to this the actual usable space inside the tent is reduced, and althought it is rated a 4 person tent, 2 adults are fine and 3 would be pushing it. Still a great value for a 9x7 tent for 40 bucks.

Overall, a decent tent for car camping. I purchased the 9x7 model. I haven't spent any time in the rain in it, although I did spray it with Camp Dry to be safe. The roomy tent has good features and ventilation. I definitely recommend this tent to any beginner camper who doesn't have much loot to blow on a spendy tent or who doesn't require the ultimate in light and fast or heavy duty 4 season use. I will admit that for any overnights, I purchased a Kelty Flight 3 for sturdiness and light weight and weatherproofness. All in all, you really can't beat a $40 tent. After all, when you upgrade to a more durable tent, you can hand this down to the kids.

I was looking for a reasonably priced tent that was suitable for 1-2 adults and easy to set up. I decided upon the 7X7 Sundome due to the adequate size, price and display model that seemed to be of decent quality. I have been pleased with the tent's durability over the last 3 years (has withstood pouring rain and some some wind). Ventilation, height, and length are all adequate for a big guy like me (6 ft 2 228 lbs) plus room for gear, another person or even the dog. The only problem has been the clips on the rainfly have mostly broken off. You can still tie down the rain fly by looping the hooped strings around the tent stakes. Overall, a good choice for occasional car campers or an entry level selection for those interested in camping but are just starting out.

Actually I am a motorcycle camper and the first time I used my 7 x 7 Sundome was in Feb in Death Valley. I literally took it out of the box at the capmsite. Sat nite it rained VERY hard for 12 hours and the tent stayed dry and comfortable. This is a great value for the money, very well made but still cheap enough to be disposable.

We bought the 9x7ft tent and found it pretty easy to setup between the 2 of us. It offered plenty of space for our queen sized airbed, our 75lb dog and some bags of gear. The best test of the tent was when a thunderstorm rolled in dumping rain, hail and gusty winds. The tent held up great, no leaks ( i had sealed the seams a few days b4). We were very happy how the tent performed. The only gripe I have is with the zippers sometimes getting stuck on the weatherproofing flaps, especially when they are wet. Other than that, this is a great and affordable tent for car camping. We'll see how it holds up after a few more trips.

I do backpacking too, but this tent is strictly for car camping, our "Winegego" if you will. I am writing about the biggest model, the 10' x 12' version. Geez, I can't believe the footprint is as big as my son's bedroom floor! If you get it cheap enough, and take care of it, and do some seam sealing and waterproofing, it is a great car camping tent. It is a little tough for one adult and a 10 year old to set up, for it is definatley pushing the limits of how big a dome style tent can be! However, my son is getting better at helping with setup, we have a routine, and it is just fine after a few times out. We've had this tent all over, including in a torential monsoon and thunderstorm (Noah, you about done with the ark thingy??!) at Bowman lake in Glacier National Park. It did leak a bit that night, but I hadn't done the required seam sealing on the rain fly, plus geez, most houses were probably leaking that night!! Under most conditions it has been dry as can be, although I wish the rainfly extended down a bit further. Speaking of that, don't set this one up in very windy weather unless you can get ALL the stakes into the ground solid and far! We had a gust come up one night and catch the underneath of the fly and flip the tent over. Very exciting! (even though we weren't in it, that would have been more exciting) Overall, for car camping I'm very happy with it, it is huge (especially for two people!) that is why I wanted it, and sets up fine and keeps us dry. I plan to do some more waterproofing work on it this summer, hope it lasts a few more seasons!

Excellent tent for those who only use a tent a few times a season. Been through quite a few storms and have spent entirely dry nights sleeping. Tent sets up easily and is light enough to take back-packing (7x7 is 8lbs). The tent has lasted quite a few seasons already and I expect it will last a few more with continued limited use. I can't say for sure if this tent would hold up well over repeated uses per season but I suspect it would.
