This was my shelter for a 620-mile section hike of the AT. I use it with the Nest 1. The two things work well together. The tarp has the right number of attachment points for guy lines and could be rigged in many different ways. The tarp has what Golite calls "beaks," which are the peaks created by the main attachment points. I replaced the original guys to those two beaks, and the four corner guys, with Triptease, which made finding these crucial guys easier. It also helped prevent tangling when you jam the tarp into its small stuff sack. On rainy, windy nights, you can pitch it low and even tie the toe end to the ground. But be sure the air is moving. You will experience condensation if the air is still. But this is not a flaw in the tarp, but an occasion for technique: raise the pitch of the tarp. There are limits to how high you can raise the pitch using just trekking poles, so look for at least one tree. Although some Golite products can be fragile, this one is pretty hardy. The stake bag is NOT, however, and will also need to be replaced with something tougher. I use the Golite stake bag to hold my small water filter.
