Strength:

I Love this little cheap tent...It is a good quality tent, one that Dick Kelty would be proud of...maybe some people would not thinks a $100+ is a cheap tent but if you know anything about tents you can see how this design is very close to a famous MOSS design...at 1/4 the price...no wonder reviews say how great this tent did in snow or bad storms....I also have weathered some serious shit in my Streamside 2...it kept me dry when the ground was holding a few inches of water I was impressed the inside of my Kelty was bone dry...Had mine for well over 10 years and I plan on taking it to the Cirque Of the Towers next year...solid free standing design and aluminum poles set ..this tent has proven to me its worth...I wish they made it with updated materials and a side entry door...but what I have will do...like we use to say in the outdoor retail biz....(If you aint got Kelty, then you aint got Dick!)

Weakness:

No weakness...like I said above this is a design used by another tent maker of extreme quality and design knowledge...Kelty Streamside is a very close maybe even better (Ventilation wise) sister to the Moss tent...I don't know who was the first to place the poles this or that way...only so many ways to do it...Kelty did it right

Great tent. I once got caught in a massive ADK thunderstorm at the base of Marcy, where the water was running like a river under my tent, and no water got in at all. I'm not kidding - I could push the floor of the tent down a half an inch because of the volume of the water. I woke up and there was mud splashed on TOP of the rain fly. I was completely dry.

It's not the lightest thing in the world, but it's light enough.

The narrow footprint is a bit different, but I've found that it can help the placement of the tent, especially in the eastern wooded areas.

All in all a great tent - and I've had it and used it for 10 years now. It's held up VERY well. Just used it a month ago, and it's still doing great.

We really love this tent, we have used it in massive thunder/wind storms, car camping, backpacking, and have NEVER gotten wet, plus with the rainfly on it stays pretty warm inside.

I purchased the Streamside 2 as the Creekside 2 from REI on a special offer. It has aluminum poles. After a couple of years, I purchased a Riverbend fly, which has photochromatic windows and a chimney vent. I disagree with some of the review comments from other reviewers. This tent is about 6 lbs., which is about typical for this size and price range tent. While some complained about the size, the shape of the tent allows for more room in the shoulder area. It is ample room for serious backpackers or paddlers. Also, one reviewer commented that the fly was too high and airflow took heat right out the tent. That is the point! It's a 3 season tent. It is designed to ventilate well, and having had many tents and hammocks, this tent ventilates very well. Regarding the comment that you have to unstake one side of the vestibule to exit...you only have to stake one side...period. You just pick which side you want to open or have as a window and stake the other. My only complaints with this tent are that to have a high head room, the fly is relatively flat and rain drops sound like a drum, and the battened down nature of it doesn't allow for much visibibility. But it would take quite a storm and keep you dry, and air flows quite well up under the fly and into the tent in a summer storm, helping to keep you cool. The construction is solid, the black netting allows excellent visibility, and it is a great tent for the money.

Customer Service

I've had very good experience with customer service, and the company which acts as their equipment vender for replacement or upgrade items.

i first bought this about 3 years ago. the smaller areatakes a little getting used to, but besides that, it's great. i've used this tent with and without rainfly. i've used it on river trips in canoes and kayaks as well as on backpacking trips with two people or just myself. the only part i dislike is the weith, but that can be dealt with. going on small camping trips with a larger group, i will sleep in this instead of a big dome ten. it's nice and private. it holds up great in wind and rain, i've used it in turrential rain and it was great. i love the ease in setting it up. definetly a recomendation for novices or higher level hikers.

Good tent overall. I've had it for a year and spent several nights in the rain with no moisture getting in. Experienced extreme winds in Colorado and the poles would bend down near my face, but then snap right back up and there was no damage. I love the mesh ceiling and the unique design. My only complaints are it is a little heavy and there is not a whole lot of room for two peoples gear under the vestibule. It is a great deal for the price though.

Customer Service

I had a pole crack because of a friend bending it too far :( but they fixed it at no charge and no hassle.

I have used this tent on a canoe trip floating the Buffalo River. During this two week spring excursion we experienced turential downpours but never got wet in this tent. It also has great ventilation during those warm nights. It is also relatively light and great for backpacking. The only thing I would change would be the tent space. It is just a bit small but the tent is great and very affordable.

I love this tent!! Lots of room, easy to set up, and the night sky veiw is awesome w/out the rain fly. It is well ventilated and its rainfly will keep you dry in a downpour. I have used this tent in all 4 seasons with no complaints.

I bought this tent for weekend trips into the mountains. My streamside 2 performed and protected wonderfully when my girlfriend and I after got stuck in a severe thunderstorm on top of mountain. I highly recommend this tent to anyone looking for a quality tent at an affordable price. Kelty did a great job!

Great tent, little heavy for solo hikers but also roomy. Clips make it easy to put up and take down.
