I bought both the 2 and 3. Sent back the 2 because I thought it was too heavy for backpacking. My wife and I like the 3 for car camping. It''s roomy, compact and easy to set up. If you want a tent for backpacking, I''d recommend either Bean''s Microlight or Sierra Design''s Clip, both come in at about four pounds if you take the stakes with you.

Customer Service

LL Bean set the standard that others aspire to but few attain.

I''m usually against reviewing a product within a year after purchase. However...this is an INCREDIBLE product. I can''t speak of long term durability, but I''ll say this: I spent 3.5 hours one afternoon in this tent with 2 other people. The tent was (poorly) placed in a low ravine beneath Colorado''s Crestone''s. That afternoon we got 3 inches of hail and a lot of rain. There was running water on both sides of the tent as well as directly under it. The hail piled up on the roof so that the ceiling sagged 7 inches below its normal line. It also piled up nearly a foot high against the side of the tent. EVERYTHING stayed dry. No condensation, nothing! You can have your $400 North Face, I''ll take my LLBean tent anyday.

although i have only used this tent for one trip, i found it to have a slight problem with condensation. i would wake up in the morning with water dripping from the ceiling. other than that, the tent worked well for the trip.

I own a Light Stuff 3, and have been quite happy with it so far. It
has plenty of room for two, although I think it would be pretty
tight with three people. The tent always seemed well ventilated,
although I sometimes noticed a fair amount of condensation on
the floor and underside of the flysheet in the morning. The
spacious vestibule is very handy for keeping mud and dirt out of
the tent. It is easy to set up and break down. I had one slight
problem with the tent described below, although L.L. Bean took
care of it for free. I definitly recommend this tent to others.

Customer Service

After 15 or so nights of camping one of the flaysheet's straps
began to slightly tear the nylon of the flysheet. I prompty took it
back to L.L. Bean and they fixed it, reinforcing the strap/nylon
connection for free without any problems or hassle.

I have spent many nights in this tent with my friend on camping and backpacking trips. It is light, roomy, and the vestibule is a nice touch. The color coded clip in poles make setup easy too. Good for anything that doesn't involve a need for snow shedding.

Customer Service

LL Bean has a very good no questions asked return policy that has never dissapointed me.

Overall a good tent, great for backpacking or bicycling. Lightweight and setup takes just minutes. The roomy vestibule is good for storing boots, wet gear and cooking in the rain. Although considered a two-man tent I would say it is more like 1.5. Although both ends are vented, I always seem to have a heavy condensation buildup.

If you are familiar with L.L. Bean you already know how good their customer service is.

I have the 2 man tent. I often store my pack inside and my dog joins me. It's the perfect size for my needs. The vestibule is large enough if the dog is muddy. Set up is a breeze because of the color coding. The stakes are used in the wind or to stretch out the fly. It is fairly light for it's size, though a little heavier than other comparable tents, because the fabric is a bit thicker. It compacts well for backpacking. I have yet to see another tent that would suit my needs as well as this one. FAVORITE FEATURE: This tent may be picked up and and shaken to clean out all the scree.

Customer Service

L.L. Beans customer service is legendary and their staff is knowledgable of their product.

Absolutely great tent...well built, light, good fly and like the clips for ease of set-up...compares very well with Spring Creek which is less expensive..I prefer a free-standing tent for Grand Canyon hiking where putting in stakes can be very difficult..need titanium;the 1-2 person is tight but ok with right companion

Customer Service

service can't be beat

I have only used this "three season" tent in late fall and late winter. Though I haven't put the tent into any extreme winter conditions it has performed very well for me. The tent is incredibly easy to set up because its color coded. The vestibule is plenty big enough for all your needs. I have the 2-3 person model and a third person would be a tight fit, but offers plenty of room for 2 people.

Customer Service

L.L.Bean has the best costumer service of any company I've encountered yet. They go well out of their way to make their costumers happy, and their 100 percent satisfaction guarantee is legendary.

I just got this tent and I love it! It's small and light but has enough room for three (friendly) people and a BIG vestibule for gear. The rainfly covers the whole tent. There are loops inside for a gear loft. The mesh gives you plenty of ventilation. A really nice, easy to set up tent. And a great price!
