I spent $400 on the Moss Stargazer in 1980. I've used it across Alaska and the Canadian NW Territories as well in most of the lower 48. The material is finally starting to wear and I'm thinking of a new tent. I haven't used anything else personally in the last 19 years, so I don't know that I've been missing anything cause this tent still sets up quickly and has been a great 3 season tent.

The Stargazer is truely a fine tent. One of the many advantages of this tent is the pole system. It uses only two ples with the combination of pole sleeves. The poles are equal in length and constructed out of high craft aluminum. The floor plan is also genius in design because it allows plenty of room for two people. The peak height of the tent is 54 inches, taller than 95% of the tents on the market. It weighs in at 8 pounds 4 ounces which is average compared to other three season tents. The vestibule is 8 square feet which does not allow lots of room for gear other than boots. Overall, the Stargazer is a high quality tent. If you dont mind paying 400$ (actual price), it is worth buying because it will last in the long run.
