This tent is no less than a hotel in the sky. I have used this tent on the side of Crinkle Crags depths of February. Exactly one year earlier we has used another brand tent in exactly the same spot. The tent was destroyed by the wind and we had to spend a night out in the open exposed to the elements. However, this year armed with a tent I knew had been used on Everest, K2 and Changabang I pitched in exactly the same spot. The conditions were almost exactly the same.... Gusty winds of about 60-70mph. (If you Americans have never experienced a British wind - be afraid, be very afraid!) In addition we were in a snow blizzard. Despite the atrocious conditions outside my father and I were warm and dry inside. In short: a fantastic tent that I would recommend to anyone.

Customer Service

I ordered the tent through Rock & Run in Ambleside. They told me it was being sent directly from Mountain Hardwear. I ordered the tent at about 2:30PM on a Friday night and it arrived at 7:30AM on Saturday morning. Now that is a world class service.

As good a winter tent as you can buy.
As far as its weight, ALL WINTER TENTS
ARE HEAVY. A durable and spacious winter
tent will necessarily be heavy because
of its construction.

Because of the weight, a winter tent
is not meant for non-winter use. A three
season tent should always be used for
camping free of heavy snow fall and
severe winds.

Great tent gets thumbs up on the Apallacian trail. Third time I used it got stuck with my dog in 18 hour downpour in febuary. We stayed totally dry and warm. Saved us as we were 20 miles from the trailhead with 2 days till pickup. Has LOTS of storage pockets for all you stuff. Rock solid in wind.

There's only one thing to say about this tent - Lovely! It works great for any kind of camping, but I have found it's niche to be on a glacier. When the wind howls and the snow blows, the Trango 2 stands up like a brick house. That's a nice feeling when it's really nasty outside, knowing that you have a safe, comfortable shelter. Spend a few extra bucks to get the attic (it works great for drying gear). The Trango2 is better than any other tent I have had the mis-pleasure of sleeping in.

This tent have served me well and I have few compants but one. The clear window seems to be not as clear as when I purchased it. Other than that the quality of the tent is out standing.

I purchased this tent last fall and have been nothing short of impressed with the bombproof constructions. My first trip with the Tent was a three day outing to Mt Rainier.

At about 1 am the second morning I awoke to find 8 inches of snow on the tent. It was at this point that I realized just how bombproff the tent was.

My only complaint about the tent is the lack of vestibule space. The froont vestibule is of decent size, however the rear vestibule is non-existent. Which means that you have to keep your pack in the tent. If you're soloing it isn't too much of an issue. But if you and your climbing partner try to squeeze in with all your gear it would be a tight fit.

I also gave it a low value rating simply because of the high price. I talked my local retailer down to $400 and got him to throw in a footprint. But that's still about $150 more than I should've paid.

Overall I have been very pleased with the tent. I am convinced that I could take this tent to the highest peak in the Himalayas or the wetest rainforest in South America, and be safe and comfortable.

This has been the best tent I have used hands down. Attention to detail is superb! This tent has stood up well to the tests of cold weather, and generous amounts of snow loading. Though a bit heavy for summer use, I found that this tent does not become too hot. Very important for a four season tent, being used on a summer glacier!

Customer Service

Mountain hardwear has the best customer service of just about any company I have dealt with. The take the time to ake sure the customer is happy, even if we sometimes ask for more than we deserve.

Great tent! I have the Tempered Trango and it is a sturdy shelter. Kept me quite safe during a storm. The 2 doors are great with a small back vestibule that is invaluable. It is a great 4 season tent. The minor changes that I would like to have seen have already been added.
