This is a great Tent..6 ft in height, with a smaller footprint. Stands up to the wind and rain as well or better tahn tents double in price. I personaly like the rainfly of this disgn..as it gives excellent protection from driving wind and rain and allows for a open window. One of my favorate tents that I have ever purchased...including trail and back counrty.

This is a well-engineered tent! We just spent a weekend at a conference in Iowa where we were camped on the prairie. At nightfall a major thunderstorm blew through with winds of 50-60mph. and heavy rain. About 1/2 of the tents there collapsed in the wind and nearly everyone complained of getting wet. We were dry and nothing budged. The entry on this tent is well thought out and getting in and out during a rain was no problem. Unlike many of the "big box" tents this one was a breeze to set up and the clips were a big plus over the nuisance of threading dome poles through long fabric tubes. Ventilation was excellent and no rain came in through the vents or for that matter the windows when it was pouring. A big plus were the 5/16ths diameter steel pin stakes. Yes, a fraction more weight, but they were easy to drive without bending and did not budge in the wind. This is a great no-nonsense tent that behaves well.

Had this tent for over 2 years now. But after a week in the Colorado mountains where it rained every night I have to write a review.... This tent is great. It's as good as everyone is saying. The only thing I dont like is that the fly in front doesn't cover all the way. It's easy to bring in moisture thru the front door if you bump the rain fly with the door unzipped.

Other than a little rainwater coming in during unzips, this baby is water-tite. A weeks worth of rain in the Rockies and not a drop inside the tent.

Plenty of room, height.... the tent stakes are cheap so buy the better ones. I highly recommend this tent for car-campers, families, etc... The little bit extra money it costs is worth it compared to the Colemans, Hillary's, etc...

I bought this tent just before a trip to Montana. Great Falls experienced one of the worst wind storms it had ever seen (80mph + winds), and the tent did great. Though I do not usually like the quality of some of REI’s gear, I am impressed with this tent. The floor is sturdy, the fly covers the entire tent, and it is very roomy. We use it for four people and several dogs. It is light enough that I take it canoe camping. The only thing that is bad about it is something that drives me nuts. I hate the clips. The tent is too big to have to deal with clips, especially if you are short. It frequently requires walking across the tent to get the top clips or laying down across it. I replaced the clips with small carabiners which are the same size and that has helped. Too often as I was raising the tent the clips would slide off the poles and it frustrated me. Also, if it is dark or you are in a hurry, it is easy to hook the wrong clips around the poles. I gave up one night and just went to bed with the top of the tent twisted, but easily fixed it in the morning when I could take my time. When mine dies I will probably purchase the same thing again.

Customer Service

You know, the customer service at the Spokane REI really stinks. It is almost like shopping at K-Mart where you can never find anyone to help you. I honestly only shop there when I find a good deal or have no other choice. I do not know if this is typical REI or typical Spokane. I usually just shop REI online when I have to get things there and do not even bother with the store. I hope other people have better experiences with them.

Researched tents for a long time - looking for the one tent that had the features that most people considered necessary. Bathtup flooring, ripstop fabric, dual windows with vent at the top - this tent has it all. And the price was perfect. Roomy enough to hold a king size air matress with storage room to spare. Tent height is enough for this 6' 3" car camper to stand up and change clothes.

Though the tent seems to be well made, they scrimpt on accessories. The two tie-down cords are not sufficient for the entire tent, so bring extra cord. The stakes are short and cheap, so purchase some good long ones while at the store.

Overall, however, a great tent for amateur campers.

Customer Service

Tent recently survived a campout with 30-40 mph high winds. One of the aluminum shock corded poles broke at the connection and ripped a hole in the rain fly. REI replaced the entire tent within a week.

First tent I ever bought. It's been worth every cent. It is definately very roomy for the type of camping I do. Mine is the older version without the clips. I have another tent with clips...they are so much easier to set up. I miss having a vestibule, but then again there is enough room inside to put everything. I carry plastic grocery sacks in the the water bottle pockets of my pack and use those to put my dirty wet boots in to keep the tent cleaner.

Some of REI's stuff has a reputation for being of inferior quality. I have had several pieces of REI gear and can say that seems true for the most part, but this tent seems pretty well constructed. I've used it maybe 25 times in the 7 years I've owned it and I don't see any signs of wear yet. It's that saying...take care of it and it will take care of you.

I've used it in the winter time a few times. I had it well staked out and I'm curious how well it would stand to a storm. I did have to get out and shovel snow away so we didn't suffocate, but that goes with most tents.

I have had very good luck with this tent. I have had it out during some of the classic atlantic northwest storm, off the coast of caroline during surf trips. I have not gotten all wet inside the tent yet. I'd take this tent out on a tough winter expedtion, but it was designed for that. I got it from REI for 110 during a sale. Very good value. This tent was a rare oppurtunity to actually get some performance for around a hundered bucks.

First time I used this tent there was a humongous thunderstorm raging, but we were dry dry dry. For years I had used an REI dome tent (4 person) for backpacking that my dad had used until he was too old to backpack anymore, so the tent had gotten some hard use and still continues to be useable. But I was looking for something more roomy for car camping, a base for weekend kayak trips, where I could spread out gear and clothing and still have plenty of room for several people. This tent was definitely the answer! I'm completely sold on clip-type tents, so easy to set up, and dome tents are great for maximizing space. Only thing I would like is a better fly, a full-coverage one. But for summer camping, the ventilation in this tent is great. Can't ask much more of an inexpensive tent.

A very roomy and well constructed tent. Bathtub style construction is very water resistant. It is lightweight for its size. The tent is well thought out. It is a little complex to put up.
