This is a very nice tent... great construction, light wieght, easy set-up, cool convertible roof. It's marketed as a three person tent, but those three people would have to be sleeping in the same bag. It's comfortable for two people. I agree that the vestibule is small, and that it can a pain to crawl over someone to get out the side door.

I love this thing! Sooo simple to throw out and set up. I can use this baby year round here in Texas. We also have a nightwatch for the kids. So simple they set it up themselves. I give it 4* the air vents are not quite big enough in the Texas summer. But overall it's a 5.

Excellent tent, really easy to set up, really roomy for two people. It is the first time we have a look out feature and we just loved it. Setting up the rain fly takes just 30 secs, so we can just keep the look out unzipped and feel like we are in the open. I cannot find anything wrong with the tent, we got in a couple of severe thunderstorms and we kept dry and nice ... I bought it from Campmor for $250 so it is a pretty good value at that price

This is a pretty damn nice tent. Very comfortable for 2 people, 3 would be a zoo. Nice layout/footprint with the side door where it is. The vent in the roof/rain fly are a huge plus when it gets stuffy. Very weatherproof, I use this tent year round in blizzards, t-storms, you name it. Rain fly could cover more ground outside to keep gear out of the weather and setting it up is a pain in the ass, especially in snow. But comfort and layout make up for these shortcomings.

I have owned my SD Lookout CD tent for 4 years now and have been very happy with it. I have used it here in Washington in rain and snow and have never had any problems. I really like the clip design -- My tent goes up far quicker than my friends TNF tent and seems just as strong. The ventilation system is great -- I rarely end up with condensation dripping on my face :) And I have found the tent surprisingly warm when snowcamping. Like many of the other reviewers, my only complaint about this tent is the tiny, nearly useless vestibule. About all it's good for is keeping a bit of gear out of the dew. One feature I have really enjoyed about this tent is the convertable top -- even with the rainfly on, it is very usefull -- you can put a flashlight in it when it is rolled up and have handsfree light without a headlamp.

I've had a lookout since they first camp out. I'm the type that squeezes a buffalo nickel until the buffalo poops. I've really gotten my monies worth out of this tent. I've used it more than 140 nights in all sorts of weather and terrain, all four seasons. I needed to replace the fly zipper last year. Vestibule is too small. Room for only two adults. A great tent. ALWAYS dry. Wish it was lighter.

great tent! though, the vestibule size is too small.the tent has plenty of room for two. I really like the loft at the top! Its great for drying gear, socks etc.this particular tent has weathered a many storm.great in the wind, snow but the rain sneaks in because of the design of the vestibule when the door is open.also had a slight problem with the fly shrinking over time.

Customer Service

sent in to repai the fly as it had reduced in size over time so...they cut the damn poles .hey it worked!

I chose this tent becuase it is one of the most versitile tents on the market. It has numerous features, but it is still reasonably light. The flaps on the fly and the ceiling provide great ventilation. You can also fold the vestibule halfway up or totally unzip it and tie it to a tree to make an extended roof that is great to cook under. When you zip up the top compartment and attach the internal guy lines, this tent will withstand any storm.
The only negatives are the steep walls in the corners that limit the sleeping space to 2 large adults. And also the vestibule is pitifully small.

Im a 15 yr old, gear headed boy scout. Not one of those wussy boy scouts that help ould ladies across roads. Were a high-adventure troop. This past summer we went backpacking over 4 mountain ranges in Montana's Glacier National Park. This tent came too. It is light. Especially when split between 3 15 yr old kids. I dont think 3 adults could fit comfortably like we did, maybe if they crammed a little. We had room and then some for our neccessary gear (the kind you want with you when it rains for 14 hours). Its got awesome ventalation. Didnt even get stuffy at the base when it was 85 and humid. Rain and snow proof, any tent that can withstand a 14 hour driving rain, sleet, and snow storm without leaking is good enough for me. And dont get me started on toughness. Got caught in a 60-70 mph (so im told by the ranger) wind storm last night of trip. The other 5 tents were blowing over with all of there owners frantically trying to re-stake them. The 3 of us went for a hike, but not after we helped the rest of the group a little of course. Some people wine about bunk mates climbing over them to take a pee. Whaa. Not that big a deal. It happens what, evry ounce a year? Small vest., perfect size to take off shoes and get situated though.Great tent. Been through everyting. Go buy one.
