I bought the Omega because of its light weight and 4 season capabiltiy. It did really well in terms of staying dry through many hail and rainstorms at 10,000 feet in Colorado. But its rain performance is something one would expect from a SD tent. I sent it back because of its poor pitch. The sides of the tent lift off the ground a good foot or so. On a slope the sides are raised to a ridiculous degree. In a really heavy hail storm, the hail stacked up against the sides. This whole ""computer design"" thing does not work. I also did not like the fact that the tent has no rear window or door. It really made me feel claustrophobic during long stays during storms. I traded the tent for a tiros assault.

I got this tent as a replacement for my SD Meteor Light, and this one is even better. For $10 more, you get a four season tent (convertible to 3 season) which stands up to wind way better. I also really like the zippered roof panel which gives you pretty good ventilation for a 4 season tent.

I got this tent for $150 and it's been worth every penny. I wouldn't take it anywhere too extreme, but for the price it will go a long way. I also invested in the internal guys and the gear loft after the first trip, both those have paid off. A very well put together tent for the price, no matter what anybody says.

Hmm... This tent has issues. Upon setting up the OMEGA for the first time, I found it to have a huge design flaw. The problem I encountered was a pitched floor and raised sides in the middle. According to Sierra Designs, this is a known problem (or feature as they put it). They suggested that if I would like another tent, they would be happy to replace it though, defenitly no complaints about their customer service. They offered to replace it w/ a Night Watch CD of which I am very happy with.

Customer Service

Sierra Designs customer service is excellent.

We purchased this tent because of its balanced price/performance ratio and have yet to be disappointed. We've had it in rain, snow, and fifty MPH 20 degree winds and have always stayed dry and protected. This is an exceptionally long two person tent, and for tall people who sleep with their arms above their head, it's a godsend. The construction has been flawless over two years of heavy use, to boot.

One caveat: practice setting this thing up BEFORE you take it out into a dark, cold night. It must be staked properly to stand up right. The computer-aided design could probably have used some tweaking to make optimal set-up less of a chore. That said, once you nail the set-up, it's damn near bombproof.

I've used my Omega in a lot of different conditions, and it has held up to everything thrown at it. This tent is weighs only 6lbs. 2oz making it one of the lighter tents for its strengths and uses. It sleeps two comfortably, although I wish the vestibule was a bit larger. All in all the perfect tent for almost any occasion and it is very reasonably priced.

We have only had our tent for about 6 months but are extremely happy with it. Goes up fast and easy. There is room for two adults and a smaller teenager. Cosy but do-able. Love the window. We have only used it in moderate to good conditions (light rain) but had no problems at all. North Face makes a great product.

I purchased the 98 model for $219 and have seen it advertised for $199. Although it has not seen rough weather, the REI clerk indicated his friend survived a 60 MPH storm in his SD Omega CD, with no side effects. The tent is roomy, light weight and 44"" high with internal tie-downs and plenty of ventilation options. The tent is very stable in the 4-season set up.

I bought an Omega after reading good reviews about it. However when I first used it I found the vestibule to be too small to hold two full size packs and two pairs of boots. Also the condensation buildup was great due to the fact that the fly doesn't pull out away from the tent. When I got home I took advantage of REI's satisfaction guaranteed return policy and sent this tent back. Also it is overpriced.

I love Sierra Design. I have a Sierra Design Gore-Tex Jacket that works great and I love Sierra Design's tents and sleeping bags.

I got this tent this year and I don't have a single complaint yet. The window in the Vestibule is a nice feature. This tent is of a great backpacking weight and has terrific durability factors. Great waterproof qualities and well designed ventilation to prevent condensation in the mornings.
