I purchased The North Face three-man Cumulus about a year and half ago. My Cumulus is a wonderful blue(I think the color is Periwinkle) and matches my car. Last Summer, I spent two weeks in California and spent most of that time camped out in my Cumulus. What a wonderful tent for one person! The only thing that may be a minus; for one person on a longer backpacking/hiking trip, the three-man Cumulus may be a little bulky. I was able to fit a double inflatable mattress, a folding camp chair to sit in and all my gear inside the tent. It was like a small living room. I was able to sleep totally—well, buff and stay warm most nights. There were a few nights with heavy fog and condensation. Just as long as I didn’t touch the sides of the tent to the fly, I stayed dry. The tent also aired out and dried quickly. It’s easy to set up and take down even with the rain fly. I do recommend purchasing the ground cover. I wore a small hole in the floor and it would have been helpful to have the ground cover with some of the muddy ground I camped on. It was well worth the $345 I spent for the tent.

My wife gave me this tent as a wedding gift last Jan. and we used it in our honeymoon on Mount Apo. Though a bit heavier than my usual backpaking tent, I have no regrets carrying those extra few ounces. The three intersecting poles provided a stable structure against the wind no matter how you posistion it. The superb design and posistion of the poles provide a lot of headroom than the Starship and Starlight. This tent stood up for most blows at 9,000 ft. and the mesh net keeps condensation at bay.

This is a roomy comfortable and warm tent. I have used it in light winter camping in the Deschutes National forest @ 4800 feet. Easy setup and teardown space for gear and my 6'4" frame make this a winner for me.

Customer Service

I looked a number of tents before buying this one and the closest value was the mountain hardware tents.

I just got this tent, so I haven't had too much experience with it, but I still like it. It is a pretty good value, and takes at most five minutes for one person to set it up, thanks to the fact that only one end of the sleeves is open. I love it

A nice roomy tent for two or three. Keeps you warm enough and it never gets stuffy because of it design. Easy to set up. Not too heavy for its size. Two nice size vestibutes. Foot print is a bit large sometimes. One major problem, the roof may leek in a very heavy dew or condensation due to a minor design flaw but not when it rains.
