My girl tells me about this tent with an internal vestibule and great stargazing capabilities, and I think she's crazy, but sure enough, here it is. Tons of space for gear, stayed nice and dry in very bad rain all night (except when the door was opened, some rain comes in but not a real problem) Fairly simply to set up, you almost can't go wrong. oh the pockets! 3 mesh pockets for each person. Not too heavy considering it's for two. the comfort it affords easily outways any flaws, the glowing zipper pulls, excellent ventilation, two doors. It's normally $319, but I got it for $239.

Truth be told I hate TNF, it's more of a fashion trend here in Ann Arbor than anything else... :-(

This tent is the sweetest thing since my grandma's cherry pie. The design makes perfect sense - when you want to get out of the tent, you simply standup - no dogding the sides. Sweetness.

Customer Service

The North Face customer service is second to none.

I was really hooked on the shape and the fact that I was able to purchase this tent for US $215. Once I had set it up a few times the things that bugged me went away. This thing handles the wind like no other tent I have seen. My only complaints are securing the rainfly with all of the velcro loops can be a pain, and its a little heavy for the use I plan on putting it to.

This tent is spacious but flawed. The most significant problem is that the reinforced poll sleeve ends prevent you from clipping on a tent footprint as you can with other North Face tents. Secondly, the rainfly zipper catches the rainfly fabric every six inches or so. Finally, the rain fly seems to move sideways off the poles so that one of the two rainfly zippers gets stuck. The poles are also very long so that they drag up soil/sand off the ground if you fully extend them before sliding them through the sleeves.

This tent is awesome! I've used it in snow, rain, & shine. It kept me warm, and dry always, & cool in summer, but the best thing is the design. I've NEVER been at ease in a 2 person tent cause stuff just gets jammed everywhere & is always a pain in the ass, until I got my Peregrine...no more hassles with stuff in my way! Dual doors are excellent, fly is great for ALL types of nasty weather. Only negatives in order of inconvenience: Climbing in & out with rain can get some drops/junk in the tent because the vestibles are a little tight (it is hard to store my pack under the vestible, but no problem for boots & smaller items). The zippers are a little tricky, & the weight is a little much, but in my opinion is worth it once I set up & realize how much more comfortable I am than my buddy in his tiny Sierra Design. (also, you should be able to get a deal on this tent somewhere, I'm proud I only paid $169.00 at Galyans on some huge sale so value for me is a 5, but the retail price is a bit much at 319.00 & overall denotes a 4...can't anyone drop their prices?).

We recently purchased the '99 version of this tent (new) for $159. From Dsports.com using a 20% off of $199 coupon. IF you can get it for that price I would say it is an incredible deal. Very roomy tent with great stargazing possibilities. Quite easy to setup as well.

Our first night in it--while camping in the mountains of NC--we weathered a 2 hour+ SEVERE thunderstorm without so much as drop of water in the tent, or any concern about its stablitiy.

My only concerns with the tent are that it is on the heavy side (OK for two people backpacking though.) And that you have to be extra careful with the zippers--they have a tendency to get stuck on the material if you do not use two hands, or learn the "lead with the thumb" technique of zipping.

I loved the design of the tent from the first time I saw it. I wasn't sure if it would actually be practical or not, but I found it on sale for under $200 (REI) and decided to get it. I haven't had it in any real extremes yet but it's performed well from snow-on-the-ground and icicles-on-the-tent, to rainy beaches in spring.

Pros
Excellent feeling of space inside the tent. Feels cavernous but everything was always within reach.
No moisture or condesation problems. Always dry as a bone (though I've yet to have it in an extended downpore.
Easy and fast to set up even in total darkness with just a AA flashlight.
Stable and taut
Good ventilation and visiblity
"Stand up" doors allow you to avoid crawling (but let in the rain too. :( )

Cons
Small vestubles. Though enough for boots and a pack, but not a dog or cooking
Difficult to get in/out without letting in the rain.
Only SIX stakes ?!? on a tent that retails for over $300? a little stingy, TNF
Pole sleeves are continuous but take some practice.
Sometimes necessary to stake it down to get max space.

Overall it's a great tent and I have no real complaints. I had also been looking at the Marmot Swallow, but couldn't see spending the extra money. The 5 star value rating is if you can get it for around $200. At $315 I'd have to give it only 3 or 4.

Customer Service

I also got the TNF attic attachment for the tent. It seems to fit strangely and is not worth the money $22. (I returned it)

I actually have the Condor, though it is the same tent but with a 4-season design. I love the SPACE! You can cram 3 people in it - no problem and with 2 it's like a hotel. Setting it up takes a minutes or two, the curved pole sleeves snag on me a lot. The vestibules are a little small, but with all the space inside you only need to fit your pack in them anyway. The ventilation is fantastic! As well as the star gazing inside. The tent stakes are sturdy and the condor comes with 12! It's heavy and packs up rather big - those are my only complaints. It's waterproof as far as my use goes (haven't had a big downpour in it yet).

when I first saw this design, I was aw struck with a "I-can't-believe-no-one-thought-of-that-before" mindsweep. It is a great tent. Very roomy for me and my 6'5" self. plenty of room for ghear inside and moderate room for wet clothes under the vestibule. Its a bitch 'n a half to set up the first few times, but it is mastered easily. While waterproof, you will get wet entering/exiting tent during/right after a good rain. But this art is also soon mastered. The quickpack footprint-rainfly summer setup is awesome. It, too, does take time to setup but is well worth it on a warm night with the ventilation and inclement weather protection. All in all, a great buy for the weekend camper or extremist looking for a bad@$$ tent. But the manufacturer is stingy with the stakes. They only give you about half as many as oyu need to the full setup.

Customer Service

Customer service with the north face is good, but increasingly harder to get a hold of with all these yuppies buying TNF stuff. POSERS!!!

The design is wonderful! Spent last night in this tent- outside it was windy and snowing/sleeting. Inside we were dry and the tent handled the wind well! Great deal at an REI dent sale!!
