It looks like Cascade was purchased by another company, or they changed their name or something. My Sherlock was sold under a different company name. Same product, same review.

A superb staff. Very light, stiff, adjustable and functional. It does just what you'd expect it to.

Two complaints.. little ones.

1) The tripod screw on top is too long. I have two cameras I've used it on and both times the screw has been too long so the camera body doesn't rest on the staff housing, it sits 1/4 inch above it. Not a real problem, but it would give additional stability if the screw were shorter. A hacksaw would probably shorten it enough, but it's not such a big deal.

2) The strap mechanism is clever, but only in theory. In the real world, it doesn't work very well. It requires tension to keep it from slipping, so the first time you release the tension and give it a light tug it may slip a bit. No biggie, but they could have done beter. It does allow for quick adjustments though, which is a nice trade-off.

Overall, I'd heartily reccomend it to anyone. I'll be happily trekking along with it for quite some time I suspect.
