These are my favorite pair of Leki's. Small and Tough. Don't be fooled by the "compact" name, I'm 6' 2" and these things have no problem extended up to my range. However, they do pack down very short as the name implies. Two things i look for in Leki's - rubber grips and no anti-shock. I think the non-anti-shock poles give you a better feel for the ground. I've never had the pole locks slip, even when leaning on them with a full pack. I can't wait to get my hands on a pair of the new Ultralite Titanium ones. Same design, just with lighter, tougher Ti.
If your just contemplating whether poles are worth the money, just buy a piar and you'll never go back. Your knees will thank you. Stay away from REi poles though, I had a problem with them slipping out of place (I like REI in general though).
