Bought this for a trip to the Ottawa Natl Forest - Trap Hills, Michigan. Worked very well for my needs. Hilly, steep trails and creek crossings. While adjustment may not be as fast as friction/twist type, it is very secure. Foam on the shaft let me "choke up" on short up-hills. Wrist strap works well. No slippage and helps bear weight. Rainy weather made trails slippery. This staff saved me from several falls and helped me get up-hill. Bore my full weight several times with no bend or flex. If looking for a simple walking/hiking staff, look strongly at this.

I purchased one of these poles when I first started backpacking. After the first trip, I returned and purchased another. They are sturdy and dependable. The adjustment mechanism will not slip and they quickly adjust to changing conditions. The cap on top of the pole removes to expose a camera mount which has come in very handy on every trip. The poles come with removable rubber feet that screw off to provide a hardened steel tip for trail hiking. The grips are made of soft rubber that will absorb moisture and provide great comfort and the straps are very easy to adjust.
