I''ve use id for three months in Nepal and didn''t get sick at all. The construction is so tough that I completely trust it on longer trips. Similar Products Used: Boiling, takes way too much fuel on longer trips. |

This water filter is incredible! The filter is slower that others on the market, but it does a better job cleaning the water. If you don't mind drinking some of the junk in the water, buy a PUR. The filter is slower which is a drag when you're thirsty. And depending on how dirty the water is will determine how often you have to clean the filter (which is a snap to do in the field). Until I used this filter, I never realized how dirty the water was. Customer Service No need.... this filter is bomb proof! Similar Products Used: PUR Scout |

Ok...This is really the best of the best. I know it is heavy, pumps a bit hard and is difficult to manage when filling bottles, but if you want a filter that is bombproof and stops pretty much everything in its path that can make you wish you were home.....This is what you buy. The latest edition has a second filler hose attached so it is much easier to fill small mouthed bottles. Wish it were a bit lighter....but it feels and works like a high end piece of machinery. I safed up for a long time to buy one of these and have not regreted it. It is very very reliable and can cope with very dirty water. When travelling in India, I was left with well water after a train broke down. The water was yellow and I could not see through it. The filter neede to be cleaned a coupel of times but it made it. If you want a filter that does not let you down and can handle mud. Go for it. the price is very good for what it is. If you only plan to filter clear water, by water purification tablets and pray. but don't waste you time on the low end stuff. It's da best!!!!!!! Similar Products Used: None |

Simply the best. My Katadyn pocket filter has been from the high country of Colorado to the Utah canyons to the southeastern swamps to the cities of Pakistan to the Himalayas in Uttar Pradesh. I shall say it three times: It can be counted on. It can be counted on. It can be counted on. It's expensive. It's really expensive. And it's a great value for the money. It will last decades, even with frequent use. It will always work. Nobody else even comes close. Do not listen to the bozos dissing this filter. Buy it. I'll say it one more time: It can be counted on. Customer Service (None of those categories particularly describes my ""outdoor style"", but I've tried to properly place myself in the hierarchy. ;-) Similar Products Used: None |

Reliable and the Water taste is excellent! It’s as easy to clean riverside as in my own kitchen sink. No surprises. It does what it says it will do without needing add ON’s, special goodies, or call this 800#’s. Reliable. Takes the color and extra’s out of the Colorado’s muddy foam. It’s been my companion over ten years, through river rafting, hiking, 4x4 Baja back country adventures, and questionable Hot Springs. Reliable. Initially expensive, this unit has More than paid for itself in years of reliable service. It’s a piece of the package that’s allowed me to git up an go whenever and wherever. An investment in lifestyle. Drawback for some is its Slow! But pumping water for the next day with friends, while telling tall river tales, sipping wine, and cooking dinner is a good thing. (Real close to as good as it gets.) Much rather be doing that now than typing this. Even if Y2K or whatever leaves me, wherever I am, with muddy water I know I’ll have something fit to drink. So will anyone with a Katadyn. Buy one, it’s worth every penny many times over. Similar Products Used: I've pumped extra water for disposable unit owners who ran out of unit before the trip was over. |

Best filter on the market! Slow but reliable, durable. You get what you pay for. Similar Products Used: Katadyne mini filter is a bit slower, but smaller, lighter. Maybe the choice for ultralight solo trips. |

Nobody has yet developed a flawless filter. Katadyn is the only company that has made a filter that's bombproof and that doesn't clog easily. When it does clog, cleaning is extremely simple. The downside is that the filter is difficult to pump and to handle. They may have solved these problems with their latest line of filters, which include tubes extending from the spouts, a feature that had long been included on other filters. The Combi filter may also answer the problem by being specifically compatible with Nalgenes. Customer Service I called Katadyn USA after my Mini Filter exploded. I wanted to upgrade to a Pocket Filter. I can't remember the exact price, but they would have charged a lot. Also, the person answering the phone was Swiss (though this was the US affiliate), so there was a bit of a language barrier. Campmor got me a better upgrade price, and they got it to me quickly.
