I have the new model with the round pump handle and the screw on adapter for connecting an outlet hose. I have used the older model and found the pump handle uncomfortable. This is not the case with the redesigned handle which is 2" in diameter. I recently returned from a 5 day backpacking trip an found that the filter worked perfectly. The filtered water tasted great too. It packs well in the zippered bag that comes with the filter. It is harder to pump than my sweetwater, but it does not seem to be any slower as far as water output. You do need to be careful when cleaning the ceramic filter element because it will surely be damaged if dropped on anthing hard. I also made certain the filter was not full of water at night because the tempature was well below freezing and the ceramic element could have been damaged. Most of the filters on the market are effective and work well if properly maintained. None of the other filters are contructed as well or with the quality of the materials used in the pocket filter. This is a most impressive filter. Customer Service On my recent trip I lost the clip you can use to connect the outlet hose to a water bottle. I contacted Suunto and was given the part number and the name of a retailer who had this part in stock. Similar Products Used: MSR,Sweetwater |
