I have had this filter for several years now, it has always been very reliable and noone in my group has ever gotten sick. It is very durable, a couple of times mine has frozen in the field with no damage. The only draw back is the number of strokes it takes to get your water. Pump force is very low and flowrate is good but your arms do get tired if you are pumping water for several people.

I use the SweetWater Guardian Plus and love it. For its price, its very affordable and reliable. Ease of assembly, speed of pumping and taste are great. Just remember to keep the inlet hose off the bottom of the water source and try a small square of pantyhose rubberbanded around the the inlet-makes a great silt stopper! Definately more bang for your buck.

Other than being kind of bulky, I've had no problems with this system over three years of use. It's not a fast process, but I'm never in too much of a hurry when out in the woods. Inspect the system and insure it is clean before every trip and be careful how you pack it. Common sense stuff. I have not tried or been with others using a different product.

I've had this for the last 4 years travelling around the world. Never had to resort to putting it into sewage water for fresh water but it's small, light and very convenient. Get the iodine attachment for any water that's suspect! It's been banged around so much but still in great condition.

Pumped all water for two for four days in very challenging conditions on the West Coast Trail. Excellent results for not much money. Yes it clogs (after 3 days of yucky water for two), but it cleans easily.

I've used the Sweetwater Guardian on extended trips to Quetico for the last couple of years. The pumping action is slow and the filter will clog after only a few gallons of water. Cleaning is easy, but gets annoying as many times as I had to do it. The Sweetwater filter also has a bad habit of spitting water from the pump when the filter is clogged. I have decided to retire the Sweetwater for something better.

On my last trip a friend brought a Pur water filter with him. The Pur was fast and the filter never clogged.

Easy use, easy clean and great tasting water. I'd read some reviews stating that the pump was too slow...I think people who feel that way may be in too big of a hurry. I met others on the trail who have the Guardian and their opinion was the same as mine

I like this filter. I have noticed that it clogs a little easy, but cleaning it is no problem...and the pumping action is the easiest I've ever used.

The Guardian has served me well for the past five years. Easy to use and maintain, it's a constant companion when away from home.

Yes, this filter clogs more easily than other filters. However, cleaning it is a simple 15 second task. The pumping action is the easiest of any filters out there, and the water tastes better than the water I've tasted from a PUR filter (compared side to side). I've had this filter for about five years and I would recommend it with only slight reservations.
