I bought these shoes (last year's style) for a 1 month hiking/backpacking trip in Kenya. I wore them every day without no complaints of any kind. Now, 2 years later I'm still wearing them, but the heel of one is coming apart and making a squeaking sound. I'm shopping for the newest model of Tempest, yet am reluctant to pay $100. Other than the price, they are excellent all terrain shoes.

I love these shoes. Although they are rated for day hiking only, I had actually wore them for a couple of 3-day backpacking trips carrying a 40-lb backpack. On one of these trips, I wore them to cross a very rapid river a dozen times! However, I don't recommend wearing them for off-trail hiking. I have narrow feet, and these shoes fit comfortably. (Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Lowa's off-trail boots.) Make sure to waterproof them right after purchase.
