kick ass beak type piton, much softer than the bird beak. It has "teeth" so it grabs better and works almost like a hook in poor placements, I went up a 30 foot trail of these things sunk less than 1/4 inch in and they held great! In softer rock (sandsotne) you can use them insted of heads. I'd reccomend picking up at least 5 to keep on your rack.

BD is great, I have had products break and even though it was my fault they worked it out with me. I was verry satisfied. I've never had any BD products break due to a manufacturing defect.
