Gerber Blunt Nose Multi-Lock Aid Tools

Gerber Blunt Nose Multi-Lock Aid Tools

DESCRIPTION

Simply the best multi-function tool available today. And the Blunt Nose version of the Multi-Plier 600 Series has no peer. It has the strongest jaws of any multi-function tool available. Like all Multi-Lock tools, the Blunt Nose has one-handed opening pliers, independent tool rotation, and all components lock in place.

The model I have is actually the older model that does not have locking blades however I have used this tool for over 7 years on a daily basis and I really like it.

The #1 advantage to this tool over Leatherman is that the pliers can be accessed easily with one hand. It only takes a flick of the wrist to open the pliers.

The down side is that, like the older Leatherman tools, one had to open the pliers with two hands to access any of the other blades and tools. All things being equal then I preferred the Gerber over the Leatherman.

The older models of the Multi-Plier also included a very sturdy awl or punch tool. I have used it for everything from a prybar to a drill. Unfortunately they don't offer this option on most models of their product and I believe the one that can still be found is a different design that is not so sturdy.

Overall this is a great tool. I can rarely be caught without a multi-tool on my belt. Right now Gerber and Leatherman each have a model available with a knife blade that can be accessed with one hand so I would tend to reserve my highest rating for those models however you may rate the flick out pliers as more important than the knife.

Its a matter of usage. If you want this for pliers first then I say choose the Gerber. If you want to eliminate the need to carry a seperate one handed knife then choose the Leatherman Wave.
