I have the 65cm 2001 model. I really like how this axe performs. It chops steps really well, and the teeth on the forged head are sharp and well designed. The top of the head is fairly comfortable on the palm when plunging etc. The pick has neutral clearance, which works well for self arrest and climbing steeper ice. The 2001 model has a protruding spike. It doesn't seem to prevent plunging, but I'd prefer a standard spike. The grip sits flush which is a nice feature too. The axe is T rated so it's very strong. but it's also very heavy. That's probabaly my only gripe with this axe, the weight. It swings well, chops well, is really strong, and makes a good walking stick.

65cm. Very sharp durable axe suitable for technical ice if needed. Positive clearance pick with teeth on both top and bottom. Hefty swing weight from a massive forged head. Comfortable in self arrest/belay grip. I like the fact that the rubber grip is flush with shaft so as not to interfere with plunging. Consider the ML axe if you don't plan on hitting the steeps. Great quality tool that will last a lifetime.
