Great classically designed ice axe. This is the same as the Omega Mountain Axe, but due to some cosmetic blemishes in the cast stainless steel head was sold through REI under the Shadow Peak name as a closeout. Shaft is a bit larger diameter than Grivel axes, but smaller than REI's axe. Unfortunately I don't see this axe listed on the outlet web site anymore. Omega has also changed their mountain axe design... the head is now made from welded/formed sheetmetal. I prefer cast since it tends to have less sharp edges.
