The Diablo was my first real climbing shoe. it really helped me to get from 5.7 to 5.10. but the rubber seems to wear quickly, and the grip isn't very useful on harder boulder problems or 5.10+ climbs. but the shoe does have a sturdy shoe for putting your weight on, and it is great for smearing. it is a great beginner shoe, but the quicker you progress, the quicker you will need a better shoe.

I purchased the Diablo as my first rock shoe. It was a wonderful fit that worked well on multi-pitch climbes. I have my Stingers for gym use, but these are really great in the real world. For the price they cannot be beat.

Great smearing shoe and satisfactory performance on edges and small cracks. The problem is they do not fit like a glove on the feet. SO, there you have it. No climber can succeed with shoes that fit loose when precision is what you need. If you have strong feet (someting that comes from expereince so begginers keep this in mind), these shoes work satisfactory in crack climbing. But, it was my first shoe and it served me well. I have climbed up to 5.10 in them but only led up to 5.7. I will say they are great for smearing. Did I mention they were great for smearing. No shoe can make you a better climber, remember the old schooler's who were climbing 5.10 on lead in Converse. There is no substitute for skill, technique and talent.

I have had these shoes for about a month now. They worked great for the first couple of weeks, but then they started to make the sides of my feet hurt. The rubber is begining to come apart. If I had to start over these would not be my first choice.

Upon starting into this sport, numerous people recommended this shoe. Luckily they fit my feet well, and since I have used them mostly in the gym. The finish & build have held up great, the rubber rand has not pealed off like other shoes I've seen. On the walls they stick well, edging is good and while smeering they hold well, but I would not say they are confidence inspiring.
They are a good starter / do anything shoe, I would recommend that anyone starting the sport give them a try.

I've had no problems with the shoes.

These shoes have worked fine for me for 1 year now. I do mostly face climbing but have used them a little in cracks. The inside lining seems to be peeling out which concerns me, but I plan on sending them back to be repaired...fingers crossed.
