These were my first pair of shoes and well worth the money even though I got them rather large. I had the older red and green model and don't know what changes have been made but here's what I can tell you. Board lasted shoe that edged like a fiend and was great at smearing. Not good for pockets and could have been shaped better to focus on the big toe. The synthetic upper does not wear nearly as well as suede/leather but unless you really abuse them should hold up at least for a second sole. Had some problem with the sole delaminating on the inside edge, repaired it repeatedly myself (obviously not well) but it did the job. Not great for overhanging routes but a good first pair of shoes for slab and vertical face climbing. Price is good for a beginner too.
