Innova Sunny Inflatables

Innova Sunny Inflatables

DESCRIPTION

A solid boat based on the successful Helios 380, the slightly longer Sunny can be paddled as a single or double, with enough space for a kid or dog. Somewhat more stable than the Helios, the open cockpit Sunny is a true recreational boat designed for comfort and easy maneuvering.

I am really enjoying the freedom of the Innova Sunny. I purchased this at www.sportboatsdirect.com/innovakayaks for $999 which included a 4 part aquabound paddle.

This kayak basically goes where you go and is fairly easy to set up. It takes me about 10-15 minutes to get it inflated and on the water. It paddles well as a single or tandem. I have taken it on class 1 and class 2 runs with no problems. I have had no problems with durability or leaking. It is a stable craft. I would recommend this inflatable kayak for those paddlers on the go.

Excellent boat! Transportable by bicycle if both seats are removed (seats do not need to be tied in as recommended by manufacturer, they are a tight fit and will stay in by themselves)and placed in a separate pannier with the paddles, pump and fin. The Sunny is surfable but tends to bend as surf gets bigger. I am considdering cutting some holes in the membrane between the floor chamber and side chambers to make the boat self bailing. This would improve its performance considerably in the surf.....I just haven't been brave enough to drill the holes in my favourite toy yet. Another time saver is to only use two of the brackets on the removable fin. Both brackets on the one side. This allows you to leave the brackets screwed on and just slip the fin in and out. I have used the kayak for about 6 months in all sorts of conditions (including rather large surf)and the fin has shown no signs of falling out. Make sure you put it in straight though or you'll get one sore arm and a sore back. Leaving the seats untied allows very quick transition from single to double kayaking and also allows for fine tuning of seating position when two paddlers are of significantly different weights. All around I'd recommend this kayak to anyone who likes/needs transportability in there sporting goods without sacrificing too much performance. The boat is very safe and stable in big ocean swell as it just bobs on top of everything. I'm now saving up for the Innova/gumotex 'Safari'.

Customer Service

Great customer service from HG sports in Prague (the boats are made by Gumotex, a Czech company). They shipped it to Australia for me which saved me a significant ammount of money. Ask for Vojta Jancar (info@hgsport.cz).

I highly recommend this inflatable. Very good quality and built like a tank. Set up is fast and easy. The Bravo 1 bellows pump works just fine, no need for an electric pump. The Solar comes with a tracking fin which is a must for an inflatable that is going to be used on flatwater.

Customer Service

Excellent, called with several questions, very helpful!

Bought the kayak earlier in 2002 while in Hawaii to take advantage of ocean and stream kayaking there. Used it dozens of times in Hawaii, Connecticut, and in Cape Cod. I've used it at the beach (up to 3 foot waves), to cross lakes, to explore streams, even found myself in an aggressive level II and the boat performed beautifully. Very fast, no noticable difference in speed from a hard shell - until you get out of the plastic hardshells and into the high-performance class. But better than a hardshell, this craft is far more comfortable and I love the portability. Innova's been building these things for 20 years and it shows!
