Chesapeake Light Craft North Bay Kayaks

Chesapeake Light Craft North Bay Kayaks

DESCRIPTION

With a narrow hard-chine hull, the North Bay tracks like a train and is almost as fast. A flat aft deck and high ends make rolling a snap, a good thing given the 20-inch beam. High ends and a flared hull ensure good performance in rough water. Length: 18'6 ft, Beam: 20in, Depth: 11 1/2 in

I built the NB after teaching basic sea kayaking for a couple years, fun opportunity to experiment with underdeck glass and flush hatches as the underdeck carlins and stock hatches were a poor design, carlins inhibited aft compartment space and high mounted hatches were unneccessary, forward hatch was too small. Used it through one year of instruction and had the chance to use it camping once in windy choppy water. Handling in wind/waves is not as good as it could be.
